Michael Gross has released a new image that gives fans a first look at the return of his beloved character, Burt Gummer, in Tremors: Island Fury. The upcoming sequel will be the seventh in the long-running horror franchise, also marking the seventh appearance of Gummer in the series. Gross has appeared in every Tremors film since the original made its debut in 1990, where it was a financial flop. Fortunately, the film found new life on home video, where it later became a cult classic that has spawned several direct-to-video sequels. In fact, a Tremors television show, which saw the return of Kevin Bacon's character from the original film, was created but canceled before it was set to air on Syfy.

Now, Tremors star Michael Gross has released a new image from the upcoming sequel, Tremors: Island Fury, that shows the bearded return of Burt Gummer. The image shows the character shirtless, sporting a Chicago Cubs baseball hat and a long, white beard, appearing to be located on an island. The full image is below.

The original Tremors film focused a small group of people located in a small, isolated town, who encounter underground creatures, nicknamed Graboids, that are killing them one at a time. The film starred Bacon, Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Reba McEntire, Victor Wong, Tony Genaro, and Gross. As the franchise has progressed, different versions of the Graboids have been revealed, including El Blanco, Shriekers, and Arctic Graboids.

As for the plot of the upcoming seventh film in the franchise, it will take place on an island resort owned by a rich trophy-seeker, who wants to illegally hunt Graboids for sport. In addition to Gross, the film will star Napoleon Dynamite's Jon Heder, Jackie Cruz, and Richard Brake. Don Michael Paul, who helmed the previous two Tremors films, is back at the helm for the sequel. According to Gross, Tremors: Island Fury is set to be released this October.
