Netflix has unveiled the first images from the final chapter in the Transformers: War for Cybertron trilogy, confirming the arrival of the Beast Wars saga. The streaming series is set after Machinima's Prime Wars Trilogy, with showrunner F.J. DeSanto returning and writers George Krstic, Gavin Hignight, and Brandon M. Easton. After two highly-reviewed seasons on Netflix, the third season will end the War for Cybertron trilogy.
The series had featured a slew of Easter eggs for the entire Transformers universe, including figures, comic books, and previous shows. The penultimate episode of War for Cybertron's arc 2, Earthrise, saw the villainous Megatron visited by his future self Galvatron with the hopes of altering their future and avoiding becoming a slave to the planet-sized Transformer Unicron. Though unable to fully reveal the plans to change the timeline, Galvatron can disclose the existence of the mysterious Golden Disk to Megatron, and that teaser seems to be paying off for the final chapter, Kingdom.
Six months after the series' previous chapter aired on the platform, Netflix has revealed the first-look images from the final arc in Transformers: War for Cybertron trilogy. Announcing the title for the chapter to be "Kingdom," the first images also confirm that the anime series will establish the epic Beast Wars. Check out the first look images below:
Though its graphics may not quite hold up in the 25 years since its debut, the animated Beast Wars series has consistently been a positive talking point amongst the Transformers fan base throughout the years. Given the story continually expanded to have ramifications for the past, present, and future of the Cybertronian warriors, to see the final chapter explore it should entice those who haven't already hopped on board to give War for Cybertron a chance. Plus, with Earthrise having teased that the war may already be underway, it is curious to see just how the closing arc brings the saga to life with both ancestors and descendants involved.
While it may have seen some controversy regarding its voice cast, Netflix's Transformers: War for Cybertron has undoubtedly brought in critics and audiences with its combination of deep storytelling and fun adventures for all audiences. It may still be unclear how the Golden Disk will fit into the Beast Wars saga or concluding the trilogy as a whole, but with its premiere on July 29, there isn't long to wait to see how it all shakes out. The bigger question now becomes, what the future may entail for the Rooster Teeth-produced universe?
