Cinematic cutscenes from an upcoming Transformers video game, allegedly being developed by Certain Affinity, have seemingly been leaked. The multimedia sci-fi franchise follows two factions of warring robots, the noble Autobots and vile Decepticons, who can transform between humanoid forms and various vehicles. The popularity of Transformers has led to many video game adaptations over the years, and now a new interactive entry seems to be on the horizon.

As reported by Insider Gaming, YouTuber DpzLuna recently shared leaked cutscenes that appear to be pulled from an unannounced Transformers video game. This project is allegedly titled Transformers Rise, and is in development at independent studio Certain Affinity. An undisclosed source apparently supplied DpzLuna with the cutscenes, which are fully voiced and animated in a cartoonish 2D slideshow style. One cutscene shows iconic Decepticons like Starscream, Shockwave and Soundwave watching a message from Optimus Prime, which mentions nanomachine monsters that threaten both Earth and the Transformers, while another sees Ratchet struggle to repair his Autobot allies.

Another Transformers Game Is On The Horizon

Transformers Devastation Video Game Optimus Prime

While video games based on Transformers were once very prominent, the franchise has been stagnant for some time now. The most recent major Transformers game was 2015's Transformers: Devastation, a fast-paced action game from Bayonetta developer PlatinumGames. The hack-and-slash adventure lets players control various Autobots and fight back against the evil forces of the Decepticons, with the diverse roster of Transformers: Devastation playable characters including iconic heroes like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee alongside more obscure Cybertronians like Sideswipe and Wheeljack. While the Transformers brawler was praised for its faithfulness to the franchise, it was also criticized for its short length and repetitive gameplay.

Details about Transformers Rise are currently scarce, but the title appears to be establishing a brand-new version of the franchise's continuity rather than following any previous video game adaptations. While this gives Certain Affinity a clean slate to build upon, it may be disappointing to fans of the beloved Transformers: Cybertron game series. The third-person shooter Transformers: War for Cybertron and its sequel Fall of Cybertron follow the epic war between the Autobots and Decepticons that led to both factions abandoning their planet and coming to Earth. The Transformers: Cybertron game series never got the conclusion it deserved, sadly, and Transformers Rise is unlikely to deliver a resolution.

Transformers Rise has not yet been officially announced, but DpzLuna has somehow acquired two full-length cutscenes from the rumored game. These snippets of story tease that the project may follow both the Autobots and Decepticons, with each faction possibly facing a hostile force of nanomachine monsters. Details remain scarce, but Transformers fans may be rolling into a new robotic adventure in the near future.
