Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Logo

Paramount Pictures unveiled the official logo for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the seventh installment in the Transformers franchise. The film is being directed by Creed II helmer Steven Caple Jr. on a script from Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi writer Joby Harold and with a cast featuring Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback and Lauren Velez. Paramount has currently set the film for a June 24, 2022 theatrical release date.

The live-action Transformers franchise first began in 2007 with the Michael Bay-helmed eponymous film, whose success launched four immediate sequels. However, as reviews and box office numbers began declining, Paramount elected to take the soft reboot approach with the the Hailee Steinfeld-starring Bumblebee in 2018, which brought in the lowest financial returns but received critical acclaim, becoming the first to earn a "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. With this positive upswing, the studio has begun working on a number of new installments, including Caple Jr.'s, an animated prequel film from Toy Story 4's Josh Cooley and spinoff from Angel Manuel Soto.

This week saw Paramount host a special virtual event for the Transformers franchise with plenty of reveals for its future, including the in-production seventh installment. In addition to reveals regarding its timeline setting and story, the studio has unveiled the official logo for Rise of the Beasts. Check out the neon-orange logo bellow:

The Beast Wars storyline has been one of the more fascinating in the Transformers mythos since its introduction with the 1996 animated series. Though the show has shown its age with regards to its visuals, the narrative and character stakes held within its story has certainly held the test of time, making the decision to adapt it as the seventh film in the live-action franchise all the more exciting for fans who have stuck with it through the Bay lows. Though its 1994 setting might prove a bit questionable to those familiar with the source material's 300-years-in-the-future setting, the films' general playing of fast and loose with original series mythos should quell's some surprise at the deviation.

That being said, the studio has stated that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will only be bringing parts of the Beast Wars storyline with it rather than acting as a straight adaptation. With the Terrorcons confirmed to be the primary villain for the film, it's more than likely the film could act as a precursor to an outright Beast Wars translation to screen. For now, fans will have to wait and see what Caple Jr. and his crew deliver when the film hits theaters next year.
