The Autobots are rolling out again in Michael Bay’s fifth installment in the Transformers movie universe, but this time they will be joined by the Combaticons! Transformers: The Last Knight is currently filming; however, little is known about the film itself. Bay tends to keep anything Transformers-related under wraps and has only revealed a few details and photos of new vehicles, leaving fans of the franchise guessing what's next.
However, Michael Bay himself just confirmed that Generation 1 Onslaught will be in the 5th Transformers film via his Twitter account. Onlsaught, a rather nostalgic character, appeared in the very first season of Transformers The Animated Series back in 1984. He's the pack leader of the villainous Combaticons, a group of Decepticon robots who are loyal to Megatron, and made up of missile-launching military vehicles.
Take a look at Onslaught from The Last Knight in the tweet below:

In the orginal animated series, Onslaught is a leader who prefers to formulate strategies and tactics to defeat his opponents rather than sheer brute force, following his own personal motto, "The mind is the greatest weapon." When his carefully laid out plans fail, Onslaught's natural anger and rage take over, serving as a as a cataltyst to become a devastating, violent force in battle. Onslaught has the ability to join with fellow Combaticons to transform into the robot Bruticus.
Although Onslaught is already a well-established in the animated Transformers franchise, we have yet to see him in any of Michael Bay's films. He'll be joining a "cast" of robots/vehicles like Squeeks the scooter, Drift the samurai Mercedes, Barricade the police cruiser, and of course Bumblebee who will be sporting a brand new look. We're still waiting for some solid photos of Optimus Prime and Megatron in the film.
It seems as though Michael Bay is trying some different with Transformers: The Last Knight by blending characters (both human and robot) from his original trilogy and the 4th film, Age of Extinction, while throwing in a much-needed dash of nostalgia with Onslaught. Mark Wahlberg will be reprising his role as Cade Yager with Josh Duhamel being confirmed to return to the franchise as Colonel Lennox, and Tyrese Gibson reprising his role as commanding officer, Sergeant Robert Epps.
After the mostly-disliked Transformers: Age of Extinction film, most fans are still sitting on the fence concerning any more Transformers movies, especially if they are coming from explosion-king "Bayhem." But the addition of the classic Gen 1 Combaticons might be enough to sway fans back to the theaters for the 5th installment. Because Michael Bay swears this is his last time directing for the franchise, it's entirely possible that we could get a decent film out of his last ditch effort.
Transformers: The Last Knight opens in U.S. theaters on June 23, 2017, followed by the Bumblebee spin-off on June 8, 2018, and Transformers 6 on June 28, 2019.
