An official teaser for A24's The Tragedy of Macbeth has been unveiled. Production on the film began in Los Angeles in early 2020 and concluded on July 23, following a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Directed by Joel Coen, the film premiered at the New York Film Festival in September to overwhelmingly positive reviews and currently claims a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Oscar-winner Denzel Washington stars as the titular Lord Macbeth, with Frances McDormand as Lady Macbeth.

In the new teaser for The Tragedy of Macbeth shared by A24, viewers are treated to an atmospheric monochrome landscape and accompanying intense drum beat. "Whence is that knocking?" recites Washington, introduced in full Macbeth regalia. He looks up to the rafters to find three masked figures peering down at him ominously before viewers are then shown an empty throne, surrounded by falling leaves. Check out the teaser below:

Also briefly glimpsed in the teaser are accompanying castmates Corey Hawkins, Alex Hassell, Kathryn Hunter, Harry Melling, Bertie Carvel, Moses Ingram, and Brendan Gleeson. The Tragedy of Macbeth is based on the legendary 17th-century play by William Shakespeare. It follows the ill-fated journey of a Scottish general to become King and the consequences of that ambition. The film is scheduled for release in theatres on Christmas Day and will debut on Apple TV on January 14, 2022.
