With Woody and the gang making a comeback in summer 2019, Screen Rant's Ryan George takes a look back at what (probably) happened during the pitch meeting for the original Toy Story. Written and directed by John Lasseter and released in 1995, Toy Story was the first feature-length movie to be entirely computer-animated, and also the first feature film made by Pixar Animation Studios. It marked a major turning point in the history of animation, and has already seen the release of two highly successful sequels.

Playtime isn't over yet, as Toy Story 4 is on the way, bringing back all of your favorite toys - along with some new characters. Among the new toys is Forky, a disposable spork who was turned into a craft project by the toys' new owner, Bonnie. Unfortunately, a pair of googly eyes and some pipe cleaner arms seriously upended Forky's peaceful life as a spork, and he finds himself facing a massive existential crisis and living in a world where he doesn't belong. "He wants to fulfill his purpose as a spork," director Josh Cooley explained. "But now has a new toy purpose thrust upon him."

The arrival of Forky in the teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 had people asking a lot of questions. Are all inanimate objects secretly sentient, like the toys? If Forky's arms and eyes were removed, would he die? At what point during the craft project did he gain sentience? As this extremely accurate reenactment of Toy Story's pitch meeting will reveal, it's generally best not to ask those kinds of questions.

Well, if that taught as anything, it's that it's best not to ask things like, "Why does Buzz Lightyear freeze up around humans if he doesn't know he's a toy?" - or think too hard about the fact that Woody's circle of friends were all too eager to lynch him without waiting for an explanation about what happened to Buzz, or how exactly romantic relationships between toys work. Instead, just enjoy that cheerful Randy Newman soundtrack.

Oh, and by the way... we really don't recommend looking into what the more creative corners of the internet have done with Toy Story's characters. There's some things you can't un-see.
