The Toy Story franchise is usually viewed as family-friendly animated movies, but did you catch these 15 more adult jokes? Pixar would not be the animated movie empire it is today if it wasn't for the success of the first Toy Story. The creative idea for a movie about toys coming to life immediately clicked with audiences of all ages ready to let their imaginations run wild and think about what their own toys would be doing when they aren't looking.

The success of Toy Story quickly put a sequel in motion at Pixar that would attempt to replicate the success of the original. Toy Story 2 arrived four years later in 1999 and proved to be another huge hit. But, then it was Pixar's decision to revive the series once again with Toy Story 3 in 2010 that proved to be the most successful of the bunch. The film closed out the trilogy perfectly and made over $1 billion at the box office.

The trilogy as a whole is one of the most beloved in movie history, as many kids have fond memories of growing up with these characters. However, in the latest Screen Rant video, we take a look at 15 instances where some more adult-oriented jokes managed to make their way into the movies and probably went right over the heads of the younger audiences. Check out each entry in the video featured at the top of this post.

Toy Story, Buzz Lightyear and Woody

While some of these may just be references to art or history that kids may not understand, one of the more surprising jokes that made it into the film involves Stinky Pete. The credits for Toy Story 2 showed a clip of him telling two Barbies that he could make sure they have a role in Toy Story 3, and the scene seems to indicate Stinky Pete wanting something in return. The scene feels all the more disturbing after studio heads like Harvey Weinstein used their power to have their way with actresses and when we consider that John Lasseter served as the director of the movie.

Thankfully, not all of these more adult jokes deal with sexual harassment, and it would be quite shocking to see Toy Story 4 and any future entries in the franchise include some. The movies will instead likely stick to their edgier jokes being about pee puddles in the bathroom or "Lincoln Logs" in the sandbox. That said, with Woody and Bo Peep set to spend more time together in Toy Story 4, we can't rule out some innuendos to what they want to do once they are reunited after all these years.
