Though another sequel was initially seen by many as unnecessary, Toy Story 4 arguably has a better finale than Toy Story 3 and it introduces a whole slew of new animated characters. From toys made out of cutlery to Canadian stuntmen to frightening and creepy dolls, the Toy Story world has expanded tenfold.

Though the film was still one of the best movies of 2019, most of the original characters from the first movies that are so iconic and beloved are actually sidelined for new ones. For better or worse, many of the new characters have left an impression on audiences, and there are enough great toys that have left us wanting to see them return in another sequel.

Knifey

At the end of the movie, Bonnie creates another toy, Knifey, who Forky immediately falls in love with. It’s Barbie and Ken all over again, or the plastic cutlery version of it at least.

Forky then hilariously relays the message to her that Woody spent the whole movie trying to explain to him; that they are not trash, but, in fact, toys. Being only a part of a mid-credits scene, there must be some sort of plan to include her in another project.

Giggle McDimples

With Giggle McDimples almost having a backstory in the movie, which is one of the things fans probably didn’t know about Toy Story 4, she needs to make a return.

Giggle’s story arc sounds great, as she attempts to track down her police dog partner who has gone missing in the field. The narrative was even set up in the movie, as a missing poster of the dog can be seen in Minneapolis.

The Bensons

Benson in Toy Story 4

The Bensons went without an ending in Toy Story 4, though everybody else got their story arc neatly wrapped up, even Gabby, who seemed to be in charge of the Bensons.

The weird puppet toys are stuck in the antique store too, and as Gabby was able to escape and find an owner to play with, the Bensons are unforgivably still stuck in the store. Though they clearly don’t look like they belong in a kid’s room, the Bensons need their ending

Ducky

Buzz Lightyear With Ducky and Bunny in Toy Story 4

Ducky is responsible for many of the movie’s funniest moments, and as he’s much shorter than his counterpart, Bunny, he has something of height complex, as he is constantly overcompensating for how short he is.

Voiced brilliantly by Keegan-Michael Key, Ducky is always talking about fighting and puffing out his chest, as when he’s first introduced, he’s even kicking Buzz Lightyear, calling him “Astroboy” and busting his chops.

Bunny

Of course, Ducky is nothing without Bunny and vice versa, just like in real life as the character is voiced by Key’s partner in crime, Jordan Peele. Together, they are responsible for some of the funniest scenes in the movie, as they creatively conjure up some of the most remarkable plans that include them ballooning up into giants, shooting lazer beams from their eyes, and attacking carnival workers.

Fans need more of those dream sequences.

Combat Carl

Combat Carl in Toy Story 4

Combat Carl has been present since the very first Toy Story and isn’t necessarily new in the slightest and, in fact, it’s one of the oldest toys seen in Toy Story 4 at this rate.

However, Toy Story 4 is the first time the character was voiced by Carl Weathers, of Predator and Happy Gilmore fame, in a feature-length movie. Weathers’ approach completely reimagined the character, even if it was for a short amount of time, which is why fans need to see him again.

Gabby Gabby

There were a lot of times we actually felt sorry for her, as Gabby went from being a villain who wouldn’t be out of place in a horror movie to just wanting to be owned by a child again.

Because of that, it’d be great to see her outside of the antique shop and not being the movie’s antagonist. As she has now been separated from the main group of toys, it might be unlikely, but it’d be exciting if she showed up in the future.

Forky

Forky

Whether or not Forky is actually a toy is debatable, and the whole rules of the world come in to question as the character comes to life after being handmade by Bonnie.

However, despite the character’s questionable existence, Forky’s endearing obsession with trash is hilarious and though even Buzz was sidelined in the movie to give Forky more screen time, it’d be blasphemy if we didn’t see the googley eyed spork again.

Duke Caboom

Duke Caboom raises his arms in excitement in Toy Story 4

Between his incredible moves as a stuntman, his struggle with being a let down of a toy, and being brilliantly voiced by Keanu Reeves, Duke Caboom is the very best of the new group of toys.

The movie has also hilariously become Keanu Reeves’s best non-action movie, according to IMDb, and though the character’s story arc is almost identical to Buzz Lightyear’s in the original Toy Story movie, Caboom could very well have his very own movie.
