Disney/Pixar continues to build anticipation for their upcoming release of Toy Story 3 by releasing two new promotional clips that should definitely leave an impression on people, with their overall darker, more adult tone.
However, unlike Dreamwork's risque Shrek 4 pictures, these new advertisements actually make sense and continue to showcase both the technical prestige of Pixar's animation and the sophistication of their trademark wit and humor.
First, take a look at the "Gadgets" clip:
This new commercial is both a fun parody of just about every motor vehicle commercial on TV nowadays, but it includes enough of Woody, Buzz, and everyone else in classic form so as to entertain viewers both young and old. Disney/Pixar also made the wise choice of animating the car/computer bits so that the Toy Story characters don't stick out in comparison to the more realistic objects in the clip (Dreamworks, take note).
Next, check out the "Security Cam" promo:
There's more than a bit of Paranormal Activity riffing going on in this clip - enough to entertain older audiences but not so much as to scare the kiddies. Plus, "Security Cam" continues to develop the idea that Toy Story 3 revolves around our favorite toys having to escape from that most terrifying of locations-- a children's daycare center.
For those out there whose Toy Story 3 fix is still not satisfied, you should check out the Ken's Dream Tour Clip from the movie, or have a look at our comprehensive guide to the new toys of Toy Story 3.
Toy Story 3 hits theaters in 2D and 3D on June 18, 2010 in the U.S.
