Tough as Nails is only about a month old, but it has already been renewed for a second season. This show spotlights people who are handling intense challenges to try and win a $200,000 grand prize.

Tough as Nails is an original reality show in that it shows how hard blue-collar work is, especially when contestants are competing for a lot more money than they would earn at standard blue-collar jobs. Host Phil Keoghan wanted to show people who won't be sipping margaritas over filmed dinner dates or jumping up a wall to complete a large stunt. He wanted a different focus that was based on his own upbringing and life experience. What's more, on Tough as Nails, no one goes home even if they are eliminated. The contestants that don't make it to the finale are allowed to stay. They cheer on their competitors and win consolation prizes. Tough as Nails tours California to create challenges for contestants.

Deadline broke the news to an eager audience, via CBS. They said the network was pretty excited about the reception for this show and the high viewership. The first season finale will air on September 2, revealing who is the toughest contestant and the winner of $200,000. It will be two hours long, and season two is in the works. We'll confirm when filming starts, depending on how the pandemic affects production.

Season two can bring more of the camaraderie that makes the show memorable. It also sheds light on people that aren't often the stars of reality shows: blue-collar workers that have to improvise to solve unique problems on the job. Such a  show could change perspectives on these professions and convince viewers to show respect about them. Like Lego Masters, it's the journey that matters rather than winning, and the show structure reinforces that.

The filming of Tough as Nails may be postponed for season two until it becomes safer to have a large group of contestants in light of the current pandemic. Even so, viewers can patiently wait until that happens.  We sometimes need a reminder that a little bit of charm and genuine teamwork can go a long way and entertain people looking to learn and enjoy television at the same time. Tough as Nails fans will love watching season two.
