Mythological heroes Ajax and Diomedes will be joining the fray in Total War Saga: Troy as DLC later this month, and a new gameplay trailer gives players the first glimpse at the two legendary warriors in action. Troy, Creative Assembly Sophia's latest entry in the turn-based strategy game series, follows the events of the legendary Trojan War, using Homer's Iliad to fill in what lost historical records can't to make the game a "grounded" depiction of the conflict's events and participants. The game was recently offered up for free on the Epic Game Store for 24 hours, and was downloaded an astonishing 7.5 million+ times in that time.

Total War Saga: Troy will be expanding the mythos further on January 28 with the Faction Pack DLC, which will add legendary warriors Ajax the Great and Diomedes, both of whom rank historically among the greatest soldiers of the Trojan War. Total War's official YouTube channel released a look at the two fighters in action. Ajax, historically known as the "bulwark of the Achaeans" lives up to his reputation as a heavily-equipped (albeit slow) fighter, marching into battle with his styled legion of Salaminians, while Diomedes, a master strategist, leads a more balanced infantry that make up for their lack of armor with the ability to quickly flank foes.

The Faction Pack is paid DLC, and will be available for purchase for $9.99 on January 28, and beyond Ajax and Diomedes, will add 18 new units and Paragon units, new mechanics, and new epic missions, to name a few. There will also be a free update that adds Hephaestus, God of Blacksmiths, that will coincide with the DLC. The Faction Pack DLC is exclusive to Epic Games Store until this August, which means Steam players will have quite some time to wait before they can add Ajax and Diomedes to their roster.
