Back when Nikki Bella was pregnant with her son Matteo, doctors feared the Total Bellas star would miscarry from being so sick.

This past January, Nikki revealed she and fiancé Artem Chigvintsev were expecting their first child together. In July, she gave birth to their son and named him Matteo. Since welcoming their son, the couple have had a few ups and downs trying to navigate their new normal as parents.

In a recent episode of Nikki's podcast, The Bellas Podcast, the new mom opened up about getting so sick during her pregnancy that her doctor worried she might miscarry, according to Yahoo! Life. Thankfully, Matteo came out healthy and happy. Nikki was candid about being diagnosed with influenza B when she was just eight weeks along. “When I was at the doctor, they were really scared,” she explained to her podcast co-host and sister, Brie. “Because I got it so bad they were afraid I was gonna miscarry.” At first, the 37 year old refused to take any kind of antibiotics, fearing that it would affect her child in some way.

At a certain point, Nikki had no choice but to take the medication. “I finally got so bad,” she continued, “[The doctors] were like, ‘You have to be on Tamiflu.’ I remember I was just like, I can’t believe I’m taking this. Like, this sucks for my baby.” During pregnancy, women are at a higher risk of contracting a severe illness due to the fast changes in the body's system. Nikki may have been scared to take her antibiotics, but Tamiflu is completely safe for women to take during pregnancy. Even with the help of the medication, Nikki was bedridden for 10-11 days. "That was miserable,” she admitted.

July rolled around and Nikki finally gave birth to her baby boy, right before her sister Brie gave birth to her son, Buddy. The birth of babies Matteo and Buddy was documented for the sisters' reality show and will show them navigating their pregnancies during the coronavirus. Thankfully, the sisters gave birth to two happy, healthy boys and were not faced with any complications during their births. Nikki may have felt the stresses of pregnancy in the beginning, but she got through it and was able to deliver her son without an issue.
