Jaskier's (Joey Batey) fan-favorite song, "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" from Netflix's wildly successful fantasy series The Witcher, is finally available on Spotify ahead of season 1's soundtrack release. Based on the series of novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher made its grand debut on the streaming platform on December 20. In the weeks that followed, the show's popularity has skyrocketed, making it one of Netflix's biggest first seasons of TV ever.
Centering on a monster hunter named Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), The Witcher revolves around himself, a rogue sorceress named Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and a young princess named Ciri (Freya Allan). The three characters are all brought together in the midst of a power struggle happening in the war-torn world of The Continent. But, at only eight episodes, the first season of the series barely scratched the surface of Sapkowski's first novel. Thankfully, The Witcher was renewed for season 2, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2021. Until then, fans have created excellent pieces of artwork, videos, and song covers to keep The Witcher excitement lasting. The latter has easily become a favorite amongst Witcher fans, especially when it comes to Jaskier the Bard's song "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher".
Now, the catchy tune is officially available for the public to listen to on Spotify. The Witcher's official Twitter account shared the news with a rhyme of their own stating, "When a humble bard, wrote a catchy song, you tweeted and asked us, what's taking so long?" Alongside this exciting news, they also revealed that Vol. 1 of The Witcher soundtrack will be available everywhere this Friday, January 24.
"Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" has truly taken on a viral life of its own since Jaskier first sang it in the series. Not only has it been remixed and covered by artists in a number of different ways, but it's also been remade into a hilarious, fan-made animated video. The song, which Jaskier came up with as a way to pay homage to Geralt's monster-hunting exploits, is easily the most anticipated one on the upcoming soundtrack. But, the intense score from Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli will surely be great to listen to as well.
There's no doubt that showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich and the cast and crew of The Witcher have created something extremely special for Netflix. Not only has it been a captivating watch for fans of Sapkowski's original stories, along with fans of the widely acclaimed video game franchise from CD Projekt RED, but it's attracted plenty of newcomers as well. Not only that, but "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" has been a fun tune for fans of the series to bond over, and it's exciting that it can finally be listened to on repeat in its entirety. Hopefully, once season 2 is finally released, Jaskier will have a brand new catchy song up his sleeve for Geralt's ongoing adventures in The Witcher.
