Too Hot To Handle is the new hit reality TV show on Netflix with a premise that the pope might approve. 10 promiscuous, highly attractive contestants are gathered to build lasting, more meaningful relationships amongst each other. The series' caveat being that sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited. The winners of the show receive money from a $100,000 dollar prize fund. But this fund is reduced for the group if only one contestant breaks the rules. Unfortunately for the pope, by the end of the show the prize fund dwindled.
Two key culprits in the reduction of the prize fund were contestants Harry Jowsey and Francesca Farago. Harry and Francesca broke rules left and right. They were the first to chalk down an infraction. A steamy kiss that cost the group only $3,000. They then went from kiss to penetration which ended up costing $20,000. If this didn't piss off the other contestants enough. They followed that up with a nightcap of oral sex. However, this action only reduced the prize fund by $6,000 which by proportion to action doesn't make much sense. Anyways, because they paved the way for the prize fund's reduction, producers offered them a cheap mulligan to win back their lost funds. Harry and Francesca had to sleep in the Casa Tau private suite with absolutely no physical contact.
In an interview with Daily Mail Harry describes this experience,
"I was handcuffed to a chair and there was so many opportunities for us to have just tapped each other slightly and so I was scared. I was like maybe in my sleep I've brushed her with my foot and I had no idea, but yeah that was the only reason why I was scared. I was quite confident until Lana (the show's AI robot surveillance) started talking... then I was like "oh, f**k, I've screwed this up."
There you have it. Harry and Francesca did actually keep their hands to themselves for one night. Lana, in turn, was proud and rewarding. They won back $32,000 for the group. But honestly, this was a fairly cheap ploy for the show to get some meat back into its prize fund.
To start, who on god's green earth could not resist not touching another person for $32,000. The whole premise is ludicrous. In fact the entire prize fund, in general, seemed disorganized to say the least. Contestants with no relationships were awarded money as well as Harry and Francesca who had lost the most money. The show really carried no direction in terms of it's competitive aspect.
Regardless, it does seem Harry and Francesca have made progress together since their time on the show. The two have been in a relationship now for over a year. Shockingly, they may be the only success story to come out of the series. Recently, they got matching finger tattoos and there are talks of a wedding and kids. A wedding will certainly boost both of their brands as a power couple. They probably won't have much trouble making kids either. Maybe their night alone allowed them the opportunity to connect and appreciate each others minds. But frankly judging from their actions on the show, something feels like it didn't matter.
