Another entertaining season of Too Hot To Handle has aired on Netflix, but despite the satisfying moments, other times left viewers scratching their heads. Season 4 showcased some epic highs and shocking lows for the new batch of contestants. Fans pointed out how genuine the relationships seemed between couples like Nick Kisi and Jawahir Khalifa, as well as Kayla Richart and Sebastian “Seb” Melrose.

Notwithstanding the apparent genuine connections between some cast members, fans ultimately had some questions about the season. Many have speculated that some season 4 moments weren’t as sincere as they were presented. This lack of faith on the part of viewers comes from long-running speculation that THTH is scripted. Season 4 might just give more credence to this conspiracy theory with some of its eyebrow-raising developments.

The Creed, Flavia, Imogen Love Triangle

In theory, it seems completely plausible that a love triangle would develop over the course of Too Hot To Handle. The issue is with the way the love triangle is presented. The audience is meant to believe that Creed McKinnon is lying to both Flavia Laos and Imogen Ewan, leading each of them on to believe he’s not interested in the other, as seen on Too Hot To Handle's Instagram. The problem is the three of them live in close proximity. The editing doesn’t explain what keeps Flavia so occupied that she doesn’t see Imogen with Creed, or vice versa. The camera work can’t account for Creed cuddling with Flavia while Imogen sits on a bench at the side in full view.

The Issue With Sophie And Ethan

UK native Sophie Stonestreet and bad boy Ethan Smith, as seen on Too Hot To Handle's Instagram, are also culprits. Sophie was with Creed when Ethan swooped up the fellow Brit for a date. Sophie resisted Ethan’s charms, but Creed wasn’t so strong when Flavia started flirting with him. Sophie was left single as Creed pursued his new interest. But that raises the question of why Ethan wouldn’t pursue the newly unattached Sophie. They both clearly had an interest in each other, Sophie going as far as to say that Ethan was exactly her type, so it makes no sense that they didn’t get together other once Creed ended things.

The Sophie and Ethan dilemma feels slightly more defensible than the love triangle, since Ethan tried to take Brittan after Sophie’s rejection. Yet, the moment still leaves fans questioning what’s real and what’s not on THTH, because Sophie and Ethan were, almost suspiciously, eliminated together. Ethan’s elimination is justifiable, but Sophie’s seems almost laughable. She showed real progress towards emotional resilience, unlike some other cast members. It seems that both cast members were eliminated to explain away their lack of a relationship in the wake of their individual solitudes.

Other moments have left fans confused as well, like Dominique Defoe being largely ignored, or the men all fawning over Kayla Richart. These, however, aren’t suspicious production discrepancies, and more just issues of personal preference. Even if Too Hot To Handle does deliver some rather unbelievable moments, that’s exactly part of the appeal. The THTH season 4 cast has knocked this chapter out of the park in terms of entertainment value regardless of how real or fake it is.
