Too Hot to Handle has skyrocketed to the top of Netflix charts in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. The overnight success of the newest dating show is no surprise as it combines hot singles, sex, and alcohol.
Netflix has hit the jackpot once again after their first dating hit Love Is Blind. The streaming service has introduced a whole new group of want-to-be reality stars, dropped them on a beach, and told them not to have sex. Yes, no sex. While everyone around the world is banished to their home’s viewers can now watch beautiful people trying to keep it in their pants in order to win a cash prize at the end.
Fans have fallen in love with the contestants over-inflated egos and chiseled bodies and the world is taking notice. The show was #1 in Canada, #2 in the United Kingdom and #2 in the US over the weekend. It may have helped that most of the contestants are from the United Kingdom. But the international cast that consists of a diverse mix of Australian, Canadian, Irish, and American people has become very appealing to audiences who were tired of seeing the same people appear on the dating shows. The idea of mixing countries lets viewers into a whole world that they otherwise may not have been aware of. New cultural ideas, accents, and slang. The raunchy show is exactly what audiences were crying out for as it mimics their everyday struggle with finding love through a dating app.
Viewers can love or hate these selfie-taking narcissists, but their drama makes for some amazing entertainment. Millennials, in general, are really getting into the show as it spotlights how they have had to learn to advertise themselves through five pictures and a clever narrative. Not to mention the narrator of the show, Desiree Burch has given us all life with her over-the-top remarks of the contestant when they do or say something dumb. She knows the show is ridiculous and viewers know the show is ridiculous, but it is a hit for that factor alone.
Basically, we are all living our lives vicariously through the ten hot singles. Fans want to watch an entertaining show that will make them laugh until they cry, especially during these current times. Thankfully, the show will do just that. It is a cleverly written and perfectly cast show that makes you want a pina colada while you sit in your pajamas on your couch, silently judging these young, hot, sexless contestants.
