Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 may be coming to Nintendo Switch. The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater released in 1999, with the sequel releasing in 2000. The remake recently received a trailer featuring the Warehouse, aimed at preparing players for a demo. Most of the original soundtrack will also be returning, with only three songs not coming back due to licensing issues – although there will also be some new additions to the lineup. In total, there will be 60 songs in the remake between both remade games in the collection.

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series has not only given fans the opportunity to control their favorite famous skaters, but also celebrities from other forms of entertainment. The remake, for example, features Jack Black as a secret playable character. As fans have been waiting for the game’s September 4 release date, they are modding its maps and other features into Skater XL, a lesser-known skating simulator available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Increasing the game’s hype, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 may be coming to Nintendo Switch. The newfound speculation is the result of a dataminer – known as Darth Bellic – discovering in the demo’s files images of a Nintendo Switch, the Pro Controller, and the Joy-Con. It’s unlikely the publisher, Activision, would include those images in the demo’s files if it didn’t plan on bringing the remake to the portable console. However, this information hasn’t been confirmed by Activision and remains a rumor for the time being.

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise has been the primary source of skater gratification in video games. Other titles, such as Aggressive Inline, offered something for rollerbladers while Shaun Palmer’s Pro Snowboarder appealed to those who prefer to slide down a frigid slope. The skating genre, however, has declined in popularity over the last decade, with most new titles being developed and published by smaller independent studios and not gaining much traction.

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 remake could be the first step to see a resurgence in the genre’s popularity, reminding veteran gamers and skaters what it was like to pull off some incredible stunts in defiance of gravity. Of course, physics don’t really apply in the Pro Skater saga, as many of the games have fans perform impossible feats, though, the remake attempts to remain true to the original titles’ physics – lawbreaking or otherwise.
