The relationship between the recent Tomb Raider movie and the old ones that starred Angelina Jolie seems to mirror that of the Street Fighter movies. The 1994 Street Fighter movie is so bad that it's good, in a campy and fun way, while Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li managed to lose what made the video games and the original movie so entertaining.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider might have been silly and filled with fanservice, but it was at least entertaining. The new Tomb Raider movie took the dourness of the reboot video games but lacked the excitement and character development that came with it.

So what became of the cast of the original Tomb Raider movies? Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Cradle of Life were financial hits, but were disliked by critics. Did such vicious criticism have a negative effect on the careers of the actors who starred in the films?

We are here today to learn the fates of the cast of the first two Tomb Raider movies. From the ascension of a new Bond, to the A-list star who wasn't tarnished by the silliness of Lara Croft.

Stay tuned for Where Are They Now? The Original Cast Of Tomb Raider.

Daniel Craig Became The Best Bond

Daniel Craig played Alex West in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. West was meant to act as the male lead of the movie, but he spent most of his time being upstaged by Lara Croft and needed to be saved by her on multiple occasions.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was Daniel Craig's first major movie role as an on-screen performer, but he had starred in numerous minor movie and TV roles before appearing alongside Angelina Jolie. He would later find his true calling as the most famous fictional spy of all time.

Daniel Craig would go on to redefine the role of James Bond and help modernize the character in a way that Pierce Brosnan was unable to do. Craig's turn as Bond in Casino Royale helped restore the character to prominence and led to a series of successful sequels.

Angelina Jolie's Star Power Wasn't Diminished By Lara Croft In The Slightest

Lara Croft is one of the most recognizable characters in fiction. She represents the growth of the video game industry from its infancy and symbolized the capacity for games to feature more adult content; for good or ill.

While Lara Croft is a well-known character, she also symbolizes some of the more cringe-worthy aspects of sexualization in video games, which didn't really change until the series was rebooted.

Playing the role of Lara Croft in a movie was a risk for Angelina Jolie, as it is the kind of move that can derail the career of an actress who wants to be taken seriously.

Angelina Jolie's performance was one of the most praised aspects of the original Tomb Raider movies and the campiness of the project did little to slow down her career.

Jolie has remained an A-list celebrity for years now and has won numerous awards for both her acting roles and the movies that she has directed.

Ciaran Hinds Is A Brother, A King, And A Terrible CGI Villain

The villain of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life was Jonathan Reiss, who is the owner of one of the most powerful weapon manufacturers in the world. Reiss learned of the existence of Pandora's Box, which caused him to cross paths with Lara Croft.

Jonathan Reiss was played by Ciaran Hinds, who has had a long career in the movie industry, starting with Excalibur in 1981. Hinds is primarily a theatre actor, but he has had roles in some of the biggest media franchises in existence.

Ciaran Hinds played Aberforth Dumbledore (the brother of Albus) in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, though he gained more recognition for playing Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones. He recently provided the voice and motion capture work for Steppenwolf, who was the villain in Justice League.

Iain Glenn Went To Westeros

Iain Glen played the role of Manfred Powell in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, where he acted as the villain of the movie. Powell was Richard Croft's apprentice and would later betray his old master, in order to take his seat on the Illuminati Council. Lara would later end the life of Powell in order to avenge the death of her father.

Iain Glen went on to have far more recognition as a TV actor than he did for his movie roles. He is best known for playing Ser Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones, where he became the pin-up for women who love old British character actors.

Jorah is the disgraced Northern lord who acts as an advisor to Daenerys Targaryen throughout her journey across Essos.

Iain Glen also plays the lead role in the Irish crime series Jack Taylor.

Chris Barrie Returned To The Crimson Short One

Chris Barrie played Hillary the butler in the two Tomb Raider movies. Hillary was a much younger and more action orientated butler than Winston from the Tomb Raider video games and was likely strong enough to escape from the freezer in Lara's mansion.

The role of Hillary might be Chris Barrie's most well-known performance across the world, but he will always be known for playing the role of Rimmer in Red Dwarf to his British fans.

Chris Barrie has since returned to the role that made him famous, as Red Dwarf was revived by channel Dave and three more seasons have been produced since the show was originally canceled. Barrie most recently reprised the role of Rimmer in the twelfth season of Red Dwarf, which aired in 2017.

Leslie Phillips Can Tell You Which Hogwarts House You Belong To

In order to learn more about the Illuminati, Lara Croft is forced to seek out associates of her father who may know details about the secret society.

It is for this reason that Lara visits Wilson, who was a close friend of Richard Croft. Wilson helps Lara learn about the mysteries of The Clock, which is something that the Illuminati are trying to learn.

The role of Wilson was played by Leslie Phillips, who is a beloved British character actor. Phillips retired from acting in 2013, but is still alive and kicking at 93 years old.

Leslie Phillips was known for playing alluring roles throughout his early movie career, with his slimy "Ding Dong" and "Hello" becoming well-known catchphrases to the British public.

Leslie Phillips is best-known to modern audiences as the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter movies.

John Voight Won A Bunch Of Emmys (And Made A Lot Of Stinkers)

Richard Croft (the father of Lara) tends to be one of the most important characters in all of the different iterations of the Tomb Raider franchise. Lara always seems to be following some hints or trails left by her father, with his deeds in the past usually coming back to haunt her.

The role of Richard Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was played by Jon Voight. This version of Richard was a member of the Illuminati, who was taken out by his former apprentice as part of the plan to obtain the Triangle of Light.

Jon Voight was an Academy Award-winning actor (for his role in Coming Home) long before he appeared in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. His career has included a lot of stinkers since then, such as Transformers and Bratz.

Jon Voight has since found critical acclaim for his role in Ray Donovan, which is a part that has won him a Golden Globe and several Emmy nominations.

Noah Taylor Is Taking Hands And Making Movies

Every action hero needs a geeky scientist friend who designs their gadgets for them. Lara Croft's nerdy genius was Bryce, who designed the S.I.M.O.N. robot that Lara uses to train with. Bryce appeared in both Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Cradle of Life.

Bryce was played by Noah Taylor, who has had numerous movie and TV show roles since then. One of his most prominent roles is that of Locke in Game of Thrones, who was the man responsible for cutting off Jamie Lannister's hand. He also played Derby Sabini in Peaky Blinders.

Noah Taylor has most recently played Phipps in Paddington 2 and Adolf Hitler in Preacher. Taylor is currently filming Skyscraper, which is an upcoming movie starring Dwayne Johnson.

Julian Rhind-Tutt Is Forever British

Being an associate of the Illuminati doesn't mean much when you are trapped inside of a tomb filled with deadly traps. This is something Pimms learned in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, as he was the assistant to the villain of the movie, but quickly defected when he needed Lara and Bryce's help to escape from a tomb.

The role of Pimms was played by Julian Rhind-Tutt, who had appeared in Tomorrow Never Dies, the 1998 version of Les Misérables, and Notting Hill.

Julian Rhind-Tutt's post-Tomb Raider career has mostly involved roles on British TV shows, such as Absolutely Fabulous, Black Books, and The Bastard Executioner. He is currently playing Prince Phelan in Britannia, which is a show about the Roman invasion of Britain.

Gerard Butler Led The 300

Daniel Craig didn't return for Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life, which meant the role of beefy male lead passed on to Gerard Butler, who played Terry Sheridan.

Terry was a former royal marine who was incarcerated and later freed on Lara's request, as she needed his connections to infiltrate the Shay Ling Hong Kong Crime Syndicate.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life was one of Gerard Butler's first major film roles, but it would not be his last. He would become one of the most recognizable action stars in the world, thanks to his portrayal as King Leonidas in 300.

Butler would go on to star in movies like P.S. I Love You, Olympus Has Fallen, How to Train your Dragon, and Law Abiding Citizen.

Djimon Hounsou & The Awards Season

Lara Croft needs to travel to Mount Kilimanjaro during the events of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life, as she discovers that the Cradle of Life is hidden in the lands surrounding the area. She travels to Africa and hooks up with a friend of hers, named Kosa, who acts as her translator and traveling companion when she is in the region.

The role of Kosa was played by Djimon Hounsou, who had appeared in numerous hit movies before The Cradle of Life, which included movies like Gladiator, Amistad, and Stargate.

In the years since The Cradle of Life was released, Djimon Hounsou has appeared in numerous blockbuster movies, like Guardians of the Galaxy and Furious 7, as well as providing the voice of the title character in the Black Panther cartoon. Hounsou has also won several awards for his performances in Blood Diamond and In America.

Til Schweiger Was Big In Germany

There are times when big actors from non-English speaking territories have to slum it in minor roles in Hollywood movies in order to become an international success. This was the case with Til Schweiger in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life, who played the role of Sean and acted as a henchman for the real villain of the movie.

Schweiger is actually one of Germany's most prolific actors and directors. Schweiger has won pretty much every major movie award his country has to offer, for productions that you likely will never have heard of, as they never left Germany.

He has had roles in other Hollywood movies, including ones based on video games, such as Far Cry.  Schweiger most recently played The Watchmaker in Atomic Blonde.

Simon Yam Was Big In Hong Kong

Lara Croft has to travel to Hong Kong in The Cradle of Life and deal with the Shay Ling Syndicate, as they possess the Mati orb that acts as a map to the Cradle of Life, which holds Pandora's box.

The orb falls into the hands of a gangster, named Chen Lo, who double-crosses Jonathan Reiss and cuts a deal with Lara Croft. The two eventually come into conflict and Lara is forced to take down Chen when he tries to shoot her from behind.

The role of Chen Lo was played by Simon Yam, who is a famous Hong Kong actor and movie producer. Like Til Schweiger, he is a much bigger deal in his home country than in America. Yam has won numerous movie awards in his home country and has worked on multiple films every year since 1987.

Daniel Caltagirone Has The Ides Of March Marked On His Calendar

In order to find the Mati orb that acts as a map to the Cradle of Life, Lara Croft has to travel to the Luna Temple in Greece. She enlists the aid of two raider brothers; Nicky and James Petraki, in order to find the Temple and secure the map.

Nicky Petraki was played by Daniel Caltagirone, who is a British actor whose biggest role before Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life was the multi-award winning The Pianist. He would go on to star in the critically acclaimed The Fall in 2006.

Daniel Caltagirone returned to the world of television, where he starred in shows like The Tudors. He is currently playing the role of Brutus in Britannia.

Jonny Coyne & His Numerous TV Roles

The role of the other Petraki brother was played by Jonny Coyne. The two Petraki brothers helped Lara Croft to find and infiltrate the Luna Temple, where they started to steal all of the riches.

The temple was then invaded by agents working for the Shay Ling Syndicate, who killed the Petraki brothers.

James Petraki was played by Jonny Coyne, who has appeared in numerous different movies and TV shows over the years. His biggest film roles have included The Hangover Part III and Nightcrawler, as well as appearing in the TV movie Sharpe's Peril alongside Sean Bean.

Jonny Coyne's TV show roles have included appearances in Gotham, Twin Peaks, and MacGyver. He was recently cast for the third series of Preacher, where he will play Allfather D'Aronique.
