Warner Bros.’ Tom & Jerry offers a first look at the upcoming animated/live-action hybrid film. Debuting as short films in the 1940s, Tom & Jerry eventually made its way into a staple Saturday morning time slot in 1965. The cat-vs-mouse antics became iconic and joined the ranks of enduring cartoons like The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, and The Flintstones.
Last year, Warner Bros. announced a live-action/animated hybrid Tom & Jerry film was in the works. Helmed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four), Tom & Jerry will follow Kayla (Chloë Grace Moretz), a new employee at a hotel who is tasked with getting rid of Jerry before the wedding of the century. After hiring alley cat Tom to dispose of the clever rodent, chaos ensues which causes Tom, Jerry, and Kayla to team up against her tyrannical manager Terrance (Michael Peña). Written by Kevin Costello, Tom & Jerry totes a cast of seasoned comedic talent, including Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2) Colin Jost, and Ken Jeong. Now, a first look at the dynamic duo infused into modern times has been revealed.

Unlike the 1992 feature film version, the infamous cat and mouse will remain silent, leaving their actions and facial expressions to tell the tale. Of course, Tom & Jerry is one of the numerous live-action adaptations in the works. These include Disney's Cruella, Robert Zemeckis' Pinocchio, and the Eloise children's book series. However, the Tom & Jerry film appears to aim for something a little different by presenting the duo in their original cartoony look to mingle with regular humans.
