Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland and Zendaya have finally confirmed their official couple-status at the 2021 Ballon D’Or awards ceremony. The actors co-star in the MCU’s Spider-Man series, with Holland playing the titular web-slinger, while Zendaya plays Peter Parker's love-interest, MJ. The pair first starred together in Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. The anticipated finale to the "Homecoming" trilogy, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is set to hit theatres this month and will see the couple on-screen together for a third time.

Aside from working on the Spider-Man franchise, which has become one of the MCU’s most popular series, Holland and Zendaya have both had a busy few years. Zendaya starred in Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed adaptation of Dune as Chani, and recently confirmed that she will have a much bigger part in Dune: Part Two. Holland has worked on voice acting projects as well as live action films, and will be playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie adaptation of popular video game Uncharted. The pair have long been rumored to be an item, but have continually dodged questions about their involvement (much to the disappointment of fans), even after invasive paparazzi photos taken earlier this year showed Holland and Zendaya sharing a kiss.

Now, in photos from the annual Ballon D’Or awards, the actors have been pictured in their first official red carpet appearance as a couple. Holland and Zendaya attended the event together, which celebrates individual successes within world football, and were snapped while Holland had his arm around Zendaya’s waist. Naturally, both Spider-Man and general Holland/Zendaya fans have reacted to the pictures of their public union in an undeniably excited way. Check out some of their posts below:

The fan excitement is unsurprising given that both stars have large and devoted followings, and that rumors about their relationship status have been bubbling away since 2017. However, it's only within the past few months that their relationship has become more public. While neither of the actors have come out to officially confirm their relationship, signs of their dating have been quite explicit. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya’s Dune co-star, recently described Holland as Zendaya’s biggest celebrity crush, and Holland himself has regularly been seen commenting sweet things on Zendaya’s social media posts. Thankfully, alongside previous snaps, fans can take the new photos as confirmation that the two Spider-Man: No Way Home stars are indeed dating.

Holland and Zendaya are two of Hollywood’s most recognisable and beloved faces, adding to the popularity of the already huge MCU’s Spider-Man series. Fans of the couple and Holland's Spider-Man movies will be hoping that the upcoming film doesn’t do anything unexpected, and keeps Zendaya’s MJ around for the next Spider-Man trilogy so the actors can continue their on-screen relationship, as well as their real one. Whether or not the pair continue to star alongside each other in future projects after Spider-Man: No Way Home, now that Tom Holland and Zendaya’s relationship has been confirmed, fans have at least had their real-world Peter and MJ theories vindicated.
