We are mere days away from the much anticipated release of Spider-Man: Homecoming and the internet is buzzing about the wall-crawler's first solo(ish) adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland made a huge impression with his first appearance as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War last year and it seems that the marketing team at Sony Pictures has taken note of his near-universal acceptance.

The new movie is projected to be a sizable hit at the box office and is buoyed by an impressive supporting cast, highlighted by veteran actors such as Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Keaton. While also introducing promising newcomers as well, such as Jacob Batalon (North Woods) and Zendaya (The Greatest Showman). However, there's no doubt who the star of the show is, and Sony is leaning into Holland to help market the movie in some surprisingly creative ways.

The latest video to feature the charismatic young actor comes courtesy of MTV's After Hours segment, hosted by Josh Horowitz. In the interview above, Holland reveals his "secret audition tapes" for Spider-Man: Homecoming to the world and it's worth a look. The video clip features a series of jump cuts of Holland offering different takes on the Parker character, ranging from a proper British gentleman, to a riff on Christian Bale's Batman from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. The segment ends with Holland finishing the interview in the Batman mask and continuing to riff on the character.

Since being cast, Holland has been a marketer's dream by constantly taking to his social media feed and keeping his fans up to date with his latest exploits as the star of Spider-Man: Homecoming. During production of the film, fans have been able to watch him show off his gymnastics prowess, dance on a sound stage, and even take an epic selfie as Spider-Man. The marketing campaign, courtesy of Sony Pictures, has taken on new dimensions in the past few weeks, with clever featurettes and POV camera work from Peter Parker himself.

While the segment is clearly a satirical look at the superhero auditioning process, it does manage to also shine a spotlight on the versatility of Holland and the comedy that we may find in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Advanced reviews from the movie are already rolling in and it has been "certified fresh" by Rotten Tomatoes days before the film's official release. The word is that the movie has the superhero action that we have been accustomed to expect, along with a sizable amount of comedic riffing. If the laughs generated by the "secret audition tape" are any indication, we can expect a dynamic performance from Holland, that's equal to the comic book spectacle.
