Tom Holland is only now as old as Tobey Maguire was when he became Spider-Man for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, which shows just how promising Holland’s future as Peter Parker is. From 2007 to 2016, audiences saw three different actors play Spider-Man on the big screen. Tom Holland replaced Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, now for a new Spider-Man reboot set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland’s run as Spider-Man is already impressive, and it has just begun.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest Tom Holland Spider-Man movie, concluded the MCU’s first Spider-Man trilogy. No Way Home felt like an in-universe reboot of Peter Parker’s story, as everyone Peter once knew and loved has now forgotten about him. Despite the film's sense of finality, No Way Home's ending directly set up the MCU's Spider-Man 4.

Tom Holland's Age As Spider-Man Compared To Tobey Maguire And Andrew Garfield

Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man

Tom Holland, born on June 1, 1996, just turned 27. Holland was cast as Spider-Man in the MCU’s Captain America: Civil War in 2015 at age 19. Since then, Holland starred in three solo Spider-Man films and two Avengers movies. As a comparison, Tobey Maguire was 27 years old when he was cast as Spider-Man. Maguire was 32 years old when Spider-Man 3 came out, and he would reprise his role as Peter Parker in No Way Home at age 46. Andrew Garfield, who replaced Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, was 28 when he was cast as Peter Parker. Garfield returned to the role in No Way Home at age 37.

That puts into perspective just how big of a future Tom Holland still has as Spider-Man in the MCU. Holland is only now as old as Maguire was when the first Spider-Man movie came out, yet the MCU star has already appeared in six Marvel movies. With Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland already in the works, Holland will become the only Spider-Man actor to get four solo films. In-universe, Holland’s Spider-Man also began his journey younger than Maguire and Garfield. The “Homecoming trilogy” is set entirely during Peter’s high school years, whereas Raimi’s Spider-Man films mostly covered Peter’s college life. Likewise, Garfield’s Spider-Man graduated high school at the beginning of his second film.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man Future: MCU Spider-Man 4, Avengers Movies And More

After starring in Civil War, two Avengers movies, and completing a trilogy, Holland still has a bright future as Spider-Man ahead of him. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man future includes the MCU’s Spider-Man 4, which has been confirmed to be in the works both by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Sony Pictures’ Amy Pascal. Who will direct the next Spider-Man movie and which No Way Home cast members will return remains to be seen. Holland is also expected to return as Spider-Man in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, the two upcoming Avengers films set in the Multiverse Saga.

Spider-Man may miss Marvel’s Phase 5, but Peter is expected to have a key role in the next Avengers movies. With many of the original MCU Avengers dead or retired, Spider-Man may play a bigger role in the Multiverse Saga’s ending than he did in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. In addition to the Multiverse Saga films, Holland’s Peter may also return in Sony’s Spider-Man universe, which currently includes the Venom films and Morbius. Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man-related films are clearly building toward some sort of crossover, of which Holland’s Peter can be part through the multiverse. Essentially, the possibilities for where Tom Holland’s Spider-Man can appear in the future are endless.
