A new film titled The Bikeriders adds Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, and Jodie Comer to its cast. The film will be written and directed by Jeff Nichols, whose breakout feature Mud, starred Matthew McConnaughey and contributed to what has since been dubbed the actor's "McConaissaince." Nichols' past work, including Midnight SpecialLoving, and Take Shelter, often incorporates tense drama and tends to attract top-level talent like Jessica Chastain, Kirsten Dunst, Joel Edgerton, and frequent collaborator Michael Shannon.

While there is no word yet on who Hardy, Butler and Comer will play, Deadline reports that The Bikeriders is an original story inspired by a 1967 book of photography of the same name by Danny Lyon, a photographer who often immersed himself within the world of his subjects. The movie will be set in the 1960s following the rise of a fictional Midwestern motorcycle club. The club's evolution over a decade will be told through the lives of its members as it changes from a "gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang, threatening the original group’s unique way of life."

All three of these talented stars are coming off of eventful years. Comer recently starred in Ridley Scott's The Last Duel and the final Killing Eve season 4, the latter of which garnered her a third Emmy nomination, with one previous win. Butler has been gathering accolades and awards buzz since the premiere of his star turn in Elvis, and is set to play the villain Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part 2. Hardy recently returned in Peaky Blinders season 6, and reprised Eddie Brock in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, one of the first post-pandemic hits, with a third Venom film on the way. Given each of their impressive filmographies in the drama genre, this trio of actors should have an excess of star power to burn when The Bikeriders begins production.
