Lawless (2012) - 7.3

Lawless follows three brothers (Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Jason Clarke) who run a moonshine business in the 1930s behind the front of a restaurant and gas station. The brothers are successful in the illegal business and have constant run-ins with corrupt lawmen and mobsters alike. The film takes a violent and brutal look at the bootlegger business during Prohibition.

Layer Cake (2004) - 7.3

This Matthew Vaughn directed film follows a cocaine dealer (Daniel Craig) as he navigates his way through the world of crime. He deals with mob bosses and other kingpins in the drug business. Although Tom Hardy has a small role in this one, overall it's worth checking out, especially if you're a fan of other Vaughn directed films like the Kingsman franchise.

RocknRolla (2008) - 7.3

RocknRolla follows the ins and outs of a big real estate land deal that all London criminals want a piece of since a big-time mobster has a monopoly on the real estate game. A group of small-time criminals called "The Wild Bunch"(including Gerard Butler, Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba) are among the people that want in on the deal. The film has a familiar stylization of Guy Ritchie movies and is worth the watch especially if you're a fan of action-adventure and mob genre.

Black Hawk Down (2001) - 7.7

This war epic follows American forces in Somalia, in the 1990s Civil War, whose mission is to capture and overthrow a self-proclaimed leader. Although the film focuses more on the action of war instead of character development, it's worth the watch. This was Tom Hardy's first film and he proved himself a worthy actor by keeping up and standing out within the ensemble.

Dunkirk (2017) - 7.9

This Christopher Nolan directed war film focuses on a World War II battle and rescue mission in Dunkirk, England. A group of Allied forces has retreated to the tiny island of Dunkirk to hide from the German forces. Both British forces and civilians jump into action to evacuate those stuck on the island before the German air forces attack. It's a tense and beautifully crafted film that focuses more on visual acting and effects than dialogue.

The Revenant (2015) - 8.0

This is a tense and brutal tale of revenge and perseverance as Leonardo DiCaprio's character is viciously attacked by a bear and left by his hunting group. He survives and awakes to learn that one of the men in his group (Tom Hardy) killed his son and left him for dead. The rest of the film plays out like a slow-burn revenge flick as DiCaprio tracks down Hardy at all costs. It's a tough film to watch at times, but overall it's worth it for the beautiful scenery, compelling storyline, and fantastic acting throughout.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) - 8.1

Mad Max: Fury Road takes its source material and updates the storyline and characters. In the post-apocalyptic world, Immortan Joe enslaves survivors in a fortress built in the desert.

Mad Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) breaks out of the fortress and runs into Furiosa (Charlize Theron) who has also escaped and brought Joe's five wives with her. The group band together to fight against Joe and his warriors and try to free the enslaved in his fortress.

Warrior (2011) - 8.2

Tom Hardy stars in this tense sports drama. Hardy's character returns home after serving in the Marines and begins to train to fight in an MMA competition. His father (Nick Nolte) continually tries to reconcile with him and his older brother (Joel Edgerton) who is also an MMA fighter so he can provide for his family. Both brothers begin to train for the same MMA competition and end up fighting each other as the last two standing.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - 8.4

Tom Hardy portrays one of the titular villains in the third installment of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight franchise. After the second film, Batman decides to go into retirement and stop fighting crime after he feels responsible for a death that occurred.

This mind-bending Christopher Nolan film follows a team of extractors as they infiltrate dreams. The team is hired to enter a target's dream as they have a unique ability to learn the target's secrets in their subconscious. Tom Hardy has a role as part of Leonardo DiCaprio's team of extractors. It's a tense, new, and imaginative story with fantastic acting and special effects that show how the world can bend in someone's dreams.
