Elvis

Elvis will tell the story of the life and career of rock-and-roll legend Elvis Presley. Austin Butler will be portraying the titular role, and Tom Hanks will be portraying Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis Presley's manager. This movie will also feature many of the most iconic names in music of the 20th century, such as B.B. King (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) and Little Richard (Alton Mason). Elvis will shed a light both on the personal relationships in Elvis' life, such as with Tom Parker and his wife Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge), and the musical influences and styling that led to his stardom. It's but one of many upcoming music biopic movies.

The project was first announced in April 2014, and production began in January 2020. Production was halted in March 2020 when Hanks and his wife, Rita, announced they had tested positive for COVID-19. The movie was originally expected for a 2021 release, but is not one of the Warner Bros. movies simultaneously releasing on HBO Max. After many delays, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Elvis will release on June 3, 2022. HBO Max streamers will get access to the movie 45 days after its theatrical debut.

Pinocchio

Pinocchio is an upcoming live-action/CGI adaptation of the 1940 film of the same name by Walt Disney Pictures. Pinocchio is a musical fantasy film - and one of Disney’s many live-action remakes in development - telling the story of Geppetto (Tom Hanks), a lonely wood-carver, and the titular character Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth), a wooden puppet carved by Geppetto. When Pinocchio is turned into a living puppet by The Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), he embarks on a journey to become a real boy, with the help of a father-like figure in Geppetto, and Pinocchio's "conscience" Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt).

The live-action adaptation of Pinocchio was announced by Walt Disney Pictures on April 8, 2015. After being in early discussion to play the role of Geppetto, Tom Hanks reached out to director Robert Zemeckis for the role, being that the two have worked together in some of Hanks' greatest films, Forrest Gump, and Cast Away. Walt Disney Pictures announced that Pinocchio will debut exclusively on Disney+, and as part of 2021's Disney+ day celebrating two years since launch, it was revealed that the movie will arrive sometime between July and September 2022. Also revealed was a modernized version of the classic Pinocchio logo.

Asteroid City

Tom Hanks is set to work with one of cinema's most interesting directors, Wes Anderson, on an upcoming film called Asteroid City. It'll be Anderson's first project since the repeatedly delayed The French Dispatch finally hit theaters in October 2021, nearly three years after production took place. It's unclear when Asteroid City will begin filming, is planned to be released, or even what it'll be about, as plot details aren't available. While Hanks is said to only have a small role in the movie, he'll hopefully get to work alongside already announced stars Bill Murray - Anderson's most frequent actor - Tilda Swinton, and Adrien Brody. Interestingly, Asteroid City is said to be much larger in scope than Anderson's usual product.

With a full schedule ahead for himself, Tom Hanks is sure to add to his already long list of iconic performances. Every time there is an upcoming Tom Hanks movie, the world is watching with eagerness and excitement for the movie's debut. This is a trend that will not be ending in the near future.
