Tom Hanks' baseball uniform from the 1992 film A League of Their Own is up for auction. Helmed by the late Penny Marshall, A League of Their Own was inspired by the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Hailed as one of the greatest baseball films of all time, A League of Their Own stars Geena Davis, Madonna, Rosie O’ Donnell, and Hanks as the alcoholic, disgruntled team manager Jimmy Dugan. One of the most quoted scenes from the film features Hanks’ character donning his baseball uniform while exclaiming: “There’s no crying in baseball!”

Per EW, Hanks’ uniform from A League of Their Own is posted on the sports memorabilia and card auction site Lelands. Reportedly in pristine condition, the uniform includes Hanks’ jersey, trousers, belt, hat, and leggings. Available for the next 22 days, the uniform has one small flaw, as the listing reveals the belt has a swatch missing on the back, however, it “...does not affect the display quality.”As of this writing, the highest bid for Hanks’ uniform rings in at $6,895 on Leland's Spring Classic Auction listing.

The authenticity of the uniform has been verified by Sportsrobe - the company that made the uniforms for the film - and the description of the uniform states that the item is valuable because it was a part of “..a Hollywood hit and a cultural touchstone, and, most importantly, worn by a screen legend in one of his most iconic roles.” Scrambling to own a chunk of cinema history, devoted fans across the world have paid top dollar for props and costumes. Hanks’ uniform from A League of Their Own may not garner a bid in the million-dollar range, but it will still be a priceless item for its new owner.
