Tom Cruise lands a helicopter on a London golf course before grabbing lunch between work on Mission: Impossible 7. The seventh and eighth installments of the Mission: Impossible franchise were intended to be shot back-to-back (with summer 2021 and 2022 release dates) before production shutdown in February due to the spread of COVID-19. Mission: Impossible 7 was set to restart production in September, but filming has since resumed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, England.

Cruise lobbied for and was given the green light to resume production earlier this month. The British government has allowed some projects to film as its COVID-19 restrictions have eased. Since Mission: Impossible 7 is technically a British production, essential members of the cast and crew flying in from the U.S. haven’t had to comply with a 14-day quarantine. Instead, these individuals will live and work in “bubbled” filming locations. This does not apply to the film’s star, Cruise, who has been living in the UK during this pandemic.

Per the Daily Mail, Cruise landed a chopper next to the ninth hole of London’s Richmond Golf Club over the weekend. The action-star was seen wearing a baseball cap, black mask, and sunglasses as he exited the helicopter and headed to the exclusive clubhouse for lunch. While the actor ate, golfers and locals took selfies next to the privately-owned 1998 Eurocopter AS350 B3.

Cruise is a certified pilot with hours of flight experience. In Mission: Impossible - Fallout, his character, Ethan Hunt, pilots a helicopter in an invigorating chase to stop a nuclear disaster. This sequence saw Cruise in the driver’s seat. Cruise, now 58 years old, is renowned for performing his death-dying stunts. For example, he climbed the Burji Khalifa in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and hung onto the side of a plane when it took off for Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. Every new entry in the franchise showcases action sequences more thrilling than its predecessor.

When Cruise returns as IMF agent Ethan Hunt in Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8, he will reportedly up the action ante even more. In addition to his lunch outing at the Richmond Golf Club, Cruise has been seen flying a helicopter and practicing his motocross skills around the English countryside. Fellow cast members, Hayley Atwell and Rebecca Ferguson have posted pictures on social media of them training for the next IMF mission as well. However, no one seems to live their role like Cruise.
