Rainbow Six Siege has just gone gold and is on track to be released on the planned global launch date of December 1st that Ubisoft has now announced. The 18th entry into the video game series will feature destructible environments, as well as player versus player and player versus enemy scenarios in timed matches.
With a heavy emphasis on destruction, Siege allows for players to break through walls and barricades and different materials (plaster, concrete, etc.) allowing for creative approaches to the various objectives in each scenario. Set after the Rainbow team’s deactivation, Siege places the player in the boots of a new operative when the program is reactivated by a new leader that goes by Six. Players are offered an array of operators, gadgets and weapons to play with and various nationalities to play as, with the Spetsnaz, SAS, GIGN, FBI, and GSG9 special forces present.
The fifth and latest gameplay trailer for Rainbow Six Siege shows off the Spetsnaz special operations group from Russia in action. The four man team of Tachanka, Glaz, Kapkan and Fuze show off their formidable skills with a variety of stationary turrets, sniper rifles, and explosives to take down a terrorist team known as the White Masks inside a dimly lit mansion. The White Masks will also make up the enemy type in the Terrorist Hunt game mode, the PvE co-op mode of Siege.
Siege will make up the 18th entry into the Rainbow Six franchise and is to be released on the PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Based on the novel with the same name written by the late Tom Clancy, Rainbow Six was first released in 1998 on the PC and across multiple consoles. With plenty of expansion packs and titles under their belt, the venerable Rainbow Six franchise has spanned from the Playstation all they way the Playstation 4.

With fierce gameplay and sharp visuals, Rainbow Six: Siege looks to be a serious contender this holiday season. Ubisoft Montreal is responsible for development work on the game - hopefully this time around, they won’t repeat the same disastrous launch they had back when Assassin’s Creed: Unity was released around this time of year in 2014.
Rainbow Six: Siege drops on December 1st, 2015 on the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
