Todd, who is a wealthy Georgia real estate mogul, is a self-made millionaire. According to NBC News, there has been a 12-count indictment issued against Todd and his wife, Julie - which includes charges of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Todd went to Instagram to talk about the incident and the charges from his and his family's perspective. He posted a statement to his personal Instagram with a picture of his family with his explanation of what happened. He starts the post talking about how the legal issues have been a "dark cloud" over him and his wife's head for the last 7 years, explaining that it all began in 2012, when they took an employee to court and the former employee allegedly sought revenge. As Todd writes, "He took a bunch of his phony documents to the U.S. Attorney's office and told them we had committed all kinds of financial crimes, like tax evasion and bank fraud."

Todd alleges that he set the record straight and the case was dropped; however, the former employee did not give up there. Todd claims the unnamed employee persuaded different investigators to re-open the case against the Chrisleys and to grant him immunity for his charges. He explained to his followers, "I'm telling you all of this now because we have nothing to hide and have done nothing to be ashamed of." Then he went on to explain that they have "a ton of hard evidence and corroborating witnesses" that proves their innocence. Todd is confident that when they go to court "the truth will prevail and the charges against us will be exposed for the outrageous lies that they are." The message concludes with them thanking their fans for support.

Now that this reality TV couple is facing a 12-count indictment, it remains to be seen if these parents will be facing prison time. Since the self-made millionaire claims that his family was thrown into this mess by a former employee and suggests that he has hard proof and witnesses to back him up, the legal fight will be an uphill battle for the Chrisleys. Now, only time will tell how this entire situation will ultimately unfold.
