Answering the February 5th Wordle could have some players flying high with their puzzle-solving prowess. Wordle is a daily guessing game where players form a random 5-letter word within 6 guesses. The game itself has gained quite a bit of popularity this year due to its simple nature, on-a-day setup, and amazing social media sharing system.
Wordle is played on a 6 by 5 grid, players need to guess the 5-letter word within the 6 chances provided. Beginning with a random 5-letter word, the game will provide hints by highlighting certain letters green if they are correct, yellow if they are correct but in the wrong spot, or grey if they are not in the word at all. Using these clues players need to adjust their word and try again, if they get the Wordle in six guesses or less, they win. There is also a Wordle 'Hard Mode' that can be turned on in the options, this mode challenges the player to use the hints given previously by not allowing letters that have been shown to be incorrect and not allowing different placement of letters shown in green.
The popularity of Wordle can be traced back to the social media sharing built into the game. After completing a Wordle players are shown their current stats, win percentage, the current streak of wins, and a breakdown of their guess distribution. Clicking the 'share' button copies a spoiler-free version of their daily attempt that can be easily pasted into any social media site. Using small colored emoji boxes, Wordle recreates the player's journey to the correct answer for the day without actually spoiling it for others. This has directly led to its increased popularity as more and more users share their wins and losses.

Wordle 231 Answer (February 5)
As the clues suggest, today's answer is ALOFT. Using a strong starting word in Wordle is important, and today we used the word ROAST. This gave multiple hints, including the correct placement of the 'T' and the incorrect placement of 'O' and 'A'. From there BLOAT was used, this added the correct place for 'L' and 'O' while narrowing down only one spot for the 'A'. After that, it was easy to jump directly to the correct answer, ALOFT.
Wordle continues to be a staple in many people's days, either first thing in the morning, or as the perfect short break in the middle of a workday. With its recent acquisition by the New York Times, some people fear it may no longer be free-to-play in the future, but for now, Wordle will continue to be enjoyed by all at no cost.
