While teaming up to fight a deadly race of evil alien conquerors and save the world, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ version of Batman proved that he wouldn’t survive in the Star Wars universe. The TMNT vigilante known as Nobody is similar to Batman in almost every way aside from Nobody being a bit darker with his occasional use of deadly firearms. Nobody is evidently a lesser version of Batman, however, he is killed by a giant alien creature reminiscent of a deadly Star Wars monster. This proves that TMNT’s version of Batman would not thrive in the galaxy far, far away.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol. 2 #12 by Jim Lawson, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, along with a few allies including Casey Jones and Nobody, are in the middle of battle with an army of Triceraton warriors who are attempting to take over planet Earth. While searching for ways to defeat the Triceratons, the Turtles and their teammates find themselves in an underground cavern where they stumble upon a terrifying alien monster. As the team tries to escape the hazardous caves, Nobody is grabbed by one of the monster’s tentacles and he is eaten by the beast before the Ninja Turtles could do anything to help him.

The monster that Nobody and the Turtles encountered while fighting the Triceratons was incredibly reminiscent of the Sarlacc from Star Wars. Like the Sarlacc, this creature was embedded in the ground with tentacles encircling a giant mouth in the center of the beast. Just as Boba Fett was eaten by the Sarlacc in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Nobody was killed in a very similar fashion. Nobody’s death proved that if he ever found himself in the Star Wars universe fighting evil doers on Tatooine anywhere near a Sarlacc Pit, he would go the way of Boba Fett just as he did in this TMNT comic.

While Nobody would clearly make a terrible Star Wars protagonist, he has done a pretty good job of being TMNT’s version of Batman throughout his comic book career. One of the best examples of his vigilantism was shown in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol. 1 #48 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. In that issue, Casey Jones accidentally kills a street thug, and Nobody quickly arrives at the scene thereafter to take Casey to the police for his crime. Like Batman, Nobody does not hold his fellow vigilantes to a different standard than any other person and values justice above all else, a similarity that is explicitly shown in this issue.

Overall, TMNT’s version of Batman has lived up to the comparison as both an effective vigilante and a character that perfectly captures Batman’s dark and broody essence. However, when faced with a threat reminiscent of the one seen in Star Wars, Nobody didn’t live up to the task and was, in fact, killed during that mission proving that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Batman wouldn’t survive in the Star Wars universe.
