Warning: spoilers ahead for Titans season 4, episode 3.Season 1 established that Starfire (Anna Diop) was sent to Earth for a specific mission, but Titans season 4, episode 3 "Jinx" may have confirmed that story was actually a lie. Koriand'r supposedly came to Earth to kill Raven (Teagan Croft) since she was the key to Trigon's return, and when the Titans defeated him in season 2, episode 1 "Trigon", it seemed that this part of Starfire's destiny had been fulfilled. However, Titans season 4 has revealed that her destiny is just beginning now, which calls the validity of her season 1 story into question. Titans has a habit of revealing dark truths about Kory's past, and this could be a path to Starfire learning one more lie from her past.

Starfire's Titans season 1 story may appear to be a lie, but it's still possible for both destinies to be fulfilled. The team stopped Trigon's return in Titans season 1, even though Starfire originally thought she'd have to kill Raven to do it. When Starfire returned her powers to Blackfire, it seemed that her powers were gone, but now she has a new, even more powerful ability within her. Both instances demonstrate that there are many opportunities for Starfire to be a hero in a way she hadn't thought possible. This also means her season 1 story may not have been a lie, and there are clues as to what these powers could mean for her destiny.

While Starfire's new destiny may seem to contradict her season 1 story, both of her destinies actually complement each other. Starfire's mission was to stop Trigon, but given the Church of Blood's connection to Raven, it's possible that her true reason for being on Earth is only now coming to pass. The Tamaraneans may have misinterpreted the prophecy, given the similarities between the threats of season 1 and season 4. Now that Starfire has unlocked her true potential, gaining a power that is all her own, Titans season 4 represents the time for her to fulfill the destiny she thought had already passed.

Starfire's New Powers Can Fulfill Her Destiny

If Starfire wasn't strong enough in season 1, her new power-up can change that. The scientists at STAR Labs confirmed that she's only tapped into a small fraction of her power, which is already strong enough to break the toughest element on Earth. There's seemingly no limit to how strong Starfire can get, and her powers are sure to keep growing as the Titans face new villains in season 4. If the final threat of the season is as bad as the characters suggest, Starfire may be the only one strong enough to stop it.

Unlike season 1, this time Starfire's power is truly her own. That may be why her destiny couldn't be fulfilled until now, because Kory had to grow into the person she was meant to be. Not filling the role she was assigned on Tamaran, not wielding a power that belonged to something else, but being a hero on her own terms. With Starfire's new powers, she can be the true hero of Titans season 4, and finally put an end to a threat that has been building since season 1.
