Titans season 4 has found one of its main villains, with The Vampire Diaries and The Originals star Joseph Morgan joining the HBO Max drama as Brother Blood. Throughout the last few seasons of Titans, the iconic DC group has gone up against several foes from the comics. Starting in Titans season 1, Trigon served as their first big bad, while season 2 brought Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke into the fold, both regarded as two of the most famous Teen Titans antagonists. The series has also not been shy in using baddies from other corners of the DC realm, from Project Cadmus to the Nuclear Family.

However, Titans season 3 took a different route as the show relocated to Gotham City, where Red Hood (Curran Walters) and Scarecrow (Vincent Kartheiser) became the primary antagonists. Even though Blackfire (Damaris Lewis) was originally set to be a rival to the heroes, she instead became an ally. It resulted in some criticism that Titans season 3 leaned more and more into its Batman obsession, despite being about Nightwing and his band of heroes. However, it appears Titans season 4 is avoiding this issue altogether.

Morgan, best known for his role as Klaus Mikaelson from The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff, The Originals, is set to join Titans season 4 as none other than Sebastian Blood, a.k.a. Brother Blood. According to THR, Morgan's Brother Blood is described as "introverted and intelligent with a hidden, darker nature." This will be the latest live-action take on Brother Blood after Kevin Alejandro portrayed him in Arrow season 2. The Vampire Diaries alum is one of two new series regulars for the next season, as Claws' Franka Potente has been cast as May Bennett, a.k.a. Mother Mayhem. Per the casting description, Mother Mayhem is a predator that has taken human form, who has an unrestricted belief in her mission in the world. In addition to them, The A List's Lisa Ambalavanar is set to recur as the DC foe Jinx, a criminal loner and master of dark magic who also gets a kick out of causing chaos.

The fact that Titans season 4 is giving the viewers a trio of villains from the actual Teen Titans canon is a strong move. Since the '80s, the group has created its own rich mythology that has been fleshed out so much that it always gives Titans plenty of material to use. For this reason, many fans felt it was a misstep for season 3 to ignore its resources by using one of the Dark Knight's villains for 13 episodes. While the Arrowverse did a grounded take on Brother Blood, Titans will be able to fully go into the dark, twisted aspects of Sebastian, with Morgan being no stranger to playing complex characters.

During Tim Drake's debut in the Titans season 3 premiere, the show alluded to Brother Blood's future arrival as the Church of Blood was briefly seen behind him. With Sebastian as one of the primary antagonists, Titans season 4 is looking like it will be exploring yet another dark storyline, if not the darkest one yet. Interestingly, Jinx is the latest Fearsome Five member to make it into the HBO Max drama, following past appearances by Shimmer and Gizmo. This could mean that Titans is getting ready to give that team a payoff down the line. While Titans season 4 has no set premiere date yet, knowing that Brother Blood, Mother Mayhem, and Jinx are coming will make the wait for the show's return worth it.
