Titans showrunner Greg Walker responds to the rumored Stargirl crossover, following a mysterious post shared by Brec Bassinger in September. After having been off the air for nearly a year, Titans season 4, part 1, is finally premiering this week on HBO Max as the Teen Titans live-action drama goes into its latest season. The new season will focus on the Titans facing off with Brother Blood, who is one of the most iconic villains the group deals with in the comics. With Brother Blood's introduction also comes the arrival of the Church of Blood, as well as the DC villainess Mother Mayhem, who will also be a series regular alongside the iconic Teen Titans foe.

As Titans season 4 is getting ready to premiere, it's coming during the same week as another DC TV drama learned its fate. Earlier today, The CW confirmed Stargirl season 4 will not be happening as the show will end with season 3, which only has a few episodes left to air until its upcoming December finale. However, while Courtney Whitmore may be finishing her run in the Arrowverse in 2022, Bassinger's character may be jumping over to Titans for a little crossover. The actress posted in late September an ambiguous photo from Toronto, Canada, where she was hanging out with Ryan Potter's Beast Boy, both in costumes, along with director Eric Dean Stanton and Stargirl showrunner Geoff Johns, who is also a Titans executive producer/writer.

Screen Rant recently chatted with Walker, who is the Titans showrunner, as he was asked about the speculated crossover. While remaining tight-lipped, Walker confirmed that the installment that was being filmed that day was episode 7 of Titans season 4.

Screen Rant: There's this mystery I have to ask about because I'm sure you've seen it, but Brec Bassinger from Stargirl, she seemed to have visited Toronto recently, where she was hanging out with Ryan Potter's Beast Boy, director Eric Dean Stanton and Geoff Johns...can you comment on that?

Greg Walker: I left Toronto, and Geoff came up to work on episode 407, and then crazy stuff started happening. Geoff works in mysterious ways. I haven't seen the episode yet. So I'm waiting to see exactly what's going on. But we'd be lucky to have Stargirl if we got her on our show. I'm a huge fan of the series and what Geoff has done, and Brec's amazing, so that's all I know. There is the kind of secret rogue units of Titans working without my knowledge.

Could Stargirl Survive Through Titans?

While Walker didn't flat out say that it was a Titans and Stargirl crossover, the showrunner also didn't debunk it either, but more so played coy about Stargirl's upcoming appearance. Episode 7, which is titled "Dude, Where's My Gar" will be the first episode for Titans season 4, part 2, which will drop sometime in 2023. Even though plot details for the episode have yet to come out, depending on how things play out in the story, it could potentially pave a way for Courtney to return to the series, potentially in Titans season 5, if HBO Max ends up renewing the show. If this is truly Courtney coming over to Titans, it remains to be seen if it's the same character from Stargirl or her Earth-9 (the world that Titans takes place on) doppelganger.

In the case where Titans season 5 goes forward on HBO Max, it would be fun to see Stargirl recur for a few episodes, especially if it's somehow the same iteration from The CW drama. Even though Titans and Stargirl are tonally different from one another, it wouldn't necessarily make further appearances impossible. It all depends on what Warner Bros. TV and HBO Max decide for Titans, as its fate after season 4 has yet to be decided. But since Titans season 4, part 2, doesn't come out until 2023, fans will have to wait and see what this Stargirl crossover is all about.
