Thanks to new set photos from the production of Titans season 4, it's been confirmed that Nightwing and company will head from Gotham to the city of Blüdhaven, allowing the series to start telling some of Dick Grayson's best stories. While the HBO Max series stars a number of Teen Titans, it's no secret that the series largely revolves around Dick Grayson more than any other hero. Now that he's evolved from Robin to Nightwing over the course of the first 3 seasons (and even spent time protecting Gotham in Batman's place), it seems as though it's finally time for Nightwing to put down roots in his own city.

As seen in the finale for Titans season 3, the majority of the Titans hopped into an RV and left Gotham after defeating Scarecrow, intending to travel across the country back to San Francisco and Titans Tower. However, these new photos from the set of Titans season 4 confirm that all or part Titans' next adventure will be taking place in Gotham's sister city of Blüdhaven. This is also where Nightwing chooses to begin his vigilante career apart from Batman in the comics.

Making Blüdhaven his to protect, it's likely that the Titans will be following suit with something or someone (like the series' upcoming villain Brother Blood) drawing Nightwing and his team to the iconic DC location. This will also be the first time Blüdhaven will be seen in live-action, despite having been referenced in the CW's Arrowverse shows as well as in Matt Reeves' The Batman. The idea of Nightwing settling down and making Blüdhaven his home city opens the door for some of his most dynamic stories to be told from the comics.

What Blüdhaven Means For Nightwing's Titans Future

While also having a comparable crime rate to Gotham, one of Blüdhaven's biggest issues is its corrupt police force. Although it was relatively brief, Nightwing did become a cop in Blüdhaven as his day job, learning about the department's corruption from within and working to clean it up at once he clocked out and put on his mask. Seeing as how Titans season 1 began with Dick working as a detective in Detroit, perhaps he could join the BPD in Titans season 4. Likewise, all of Blüdhaven's organized crime is run by a Kingpin-esque villain known as Blockbuster who quickly becomes one of Nightwing's chief rivals in the comics.

Given the teases that Lex Luthor might be a secondary villain in Titans season 4, it's possible that elements from Infinite Crisis could be adapted where a variant of Luthor and the Secret Society of Supervillains completely destroyed Blüdhaven (in a past continuity). This concept that could be loosely incorporated into the series as well once Nightwing and the rest of the Titans make their way to Dick Grayson's home city. At any rate, the city of Blüdhaven is a major part of Nightwing's evolution as a hero, making it a very exciting addition to Titans season 4 when it releases at the end of 2022.
