On the heels of the first part's conclusion, Titans season 4's DC villain actor Joseph Morgan teases how Sebastian Sanger will have a major impact on the heroes in part 2. As of this week, Titans season 4 part 1 has reached its end, with Sebastian ending up falling into the hands of the Church of Blood. While trying to reject his destiny as Brother Blood, Sebastian chose to protect his new superhero friends and gave in to the supernatural cult, leaving his fate on a cliffhanger in the midseason finale.

Screen Rant recently interviewed Morgan about his Brother Blood arc coming up in Titans season 4 part 2. Given the integral bond he had with the heroes, Morgan was asked how much of an impact Brother Blood would have on the Titans following a recent comment from showrunner Greg Walker that he is "more than a villain" for the season. According to The Originals star, Sebastian started as their friend, which definitely complicates things, as he promises that it's not a happy ending for everyone, sharing the following:

Because he became their friend first, especially some of them, and later on in the season, there's another bond that is established with a different Titan, [similar to] what we have with Rachel. I think it's easier to fight a masked villain who is just doing something terrible for the sake of being terrible. But for them to actually understand him, witness firsthand the pain that he has, and have it be something that they can relate to as well because of their struggles with their lives.

And certainly, Rachel is very, very similar to what she went through. I think, then, to have to try and stop this person and to have that conflict, there's going to be something in you the whole time that thinks, 'Am I doing the right thing,' and I'll tell you something, it is not going to be a happy ending for everyone on the show. You come away from something where that does happen, and it changes you. I am in dangerous territory now, mate! [laughs]

Why Brother Blood Is One Of The Better Villains For Titans

Titans season 3 afterlife dc titans season 4 Brother Blood

Throughout Titans' past seasons, the band of heroes has faced numerous villains from the DC Universe. From the demonic Trigon and Deathstroke, to Red Hood and Scarecrow, Brother Blood is quickly becoming one of the better antagonists for the DC TV drama. Similar to Trigon, the creative team have been able to utilize the family ties that exist between Raven and Sebastian, as they have been established to be half-siblings. This formed an actually healthy family bond for Rachel, as her real parents turned out to be forces of evil during Titans season 1.

But by also introducing Sebastian as someone who became an ally to the rest of the team, it gives Titans season 4 part 2 a far more intriguing challenge at hand. While Brother Blood has always been one of the most formidable Teen Titans foes, the HBO Max drama now has a conflict to tackle because this isn't a simple situation. Sending Trigon to another dimension or slaying Deathstroke is more based on traditional evil vs. good. But with Brother Blood, Sebastian is someone the Titans grew to care about, especially because he is Raven's half-brother. Whether or not this leads to Brother Blood being redeemed rather than defeated remains to be seen.

So far, Titans season 4 has been the darkest season of the series thus far, and it's mostly because of Brother Blood and the Church of Blood. If this also leads to Trigon somehow making a return to the series, as he hasn't been seen since Titans season 2, it will definitely up the game for season 4 part 2 whenever it premieres in 2023. So far, HBO Max has yet to decide if Titans will be renewed for another season, which likely won't be decided until sometime when part 2 is or has aired. In the events where Titans season 5 doesn't happen, having Brother Blood and Trigon together in the same season will be a nice way to also tie it back to season 1 and bring things full circle. While the premiere date for Titans season 4 part 2 has yet to get a premiere date, it will be intriguing to see how Brother Blood affects the series in the long run.
