HBO Max reveals the Titans season 3 teaser trailer. The darker take on DC's Teen Titans team debuted on DC Universe in 2018, with the first season introducing the core members of the group: Dick Grayson aka Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites), Koriand'r aka Starfire (Anna Diop), Rachel Roth aka Raven (Teagan Croft) and Gar Logan aka Beast Boy (Ryan Potter). Titans season 1 also featured Hawk (Alan Ritchson) and Dove (Minka Kelly) and introduced Jason Todd (Curran Walters). Then in Titans season 2, the show expanded their cast to include plenty more DC heroes and villains, including Iain Glen as Batman, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Conor Leslie as Donna Troy and Esai Morales as Deathstroke.

Now, Titans season 3 is moving to HBO Max and is set to introduce even more characters, with Savannah Welch playing Barbara Gordon - the daughter of Jim Gordon who's first known as Batman's sidekick Batgirl, then Oracle in the comics. Additionally, Vincent Kartheiser was cast as Dr. Jonathan Crane aka Scarecrow while Jay Lycurgo will play Tim Drake, another DC character to take on the Robin mantle following Dick Grayson. Now, with the new season set to premiere in about two months on HBO Max, the streamer has unveiled the teaser trailer.

The first Titans season 3 trailer has been released, teasing Walters' Jason Todd becoming Red Hood. The footage features Jason entering a kind of amusement park and recoiling at a security guard whose mouth is stretched inhumanly wide in a grin. A later shot in the trailer shows a shadowed figuring beating someone on the ground with a crowbar, which is a key moment in Red Hood's journey. Otherwise, the Titans season 3 trailer also features a look at Gar, Superboy, Krypto, Nightwing and Stafire standing together and looking like they're ready for a fight. The trailer also teases the arrival of Scarecrow. Check it out below.

In the comics, Jason Todd was killed by the Joker in the famous 80s storyline Batman: A Death in the Family, after beating the former Robin with a crowbar. Jason was later resurrected by means of a Lazarus Pit and took on the mantle of Red Hood before beating the Joker with a crowbar in revenge. Since the Joker hasn't yet been introduced to the Titans corner of the DC universe, nor has Jason actually been killed (despite a few close calls in season 2), it's likely that Titans season 3's Red Hood introduction will differ from the comics. That said, given the footage of someone being beaten with a crowbar, at least one of those scenes will play out. Based on the silhouette of the attacker and the fear on Jason's face in the first part of the scene, it's likely he's the victim in this situation.

It's possible that Jason's evolution into Red Hood may be tied into the storyline with Scarecrow, or it could be the first real time viewers will see the Joker in Titans, though the character has been mentioned previously. For now, how Red Hood fits into season 3 is still unclear, especially since Jason is estranged from the rest of the Titans team. But it seems Nightwing will be busy in his own right, since Titans season 3 will see Blackfire (Damaris Lewis) as another villain, facing off with her sister Starfire. With Barbara Gordon also joining the fold as well as Tim Drake, there won't be any shortage of heroes in Titans season 3, and more about what's next for each of them will be revealed in when a full trailer debuts.
