Fans now have their first look at Curran Walters as Jason Todd from a photo taken from the set of DC's Titans TV show. DC fans know that Jason Todd is a prominent Batman character and the second hero to take on the mantle of Robin, as well as the person who later became known as the Red Hood.
Set to air on the DC Universe streaming service, Titans stars Brentan Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. The group will serve as the first live-action portrayal of the classic comic book team - on television or otherwise. While not much is known about what to expect from Titans - aside from the characters confirmed to appear, including Hawk, Dove, Wonder Girl, Elasti-Girl, and Negative Man - the series is the first major endeavor by DC Entertainment into the streaming realm.
Titans Brasil Twitter account posted a series of photos from the set of Titans in Toronto, of which one photo reveals Curran Walters as Jason Todd. The photo doesn't show too much, though, as Todd is dressed in civilian clothes. It's possible that Todd may not suit up until later on in the series. Jason Todd's role in Titans has yet to be officially confirmed, though a rumored list of episode titles indicate that Todd will appear in the series, and a lot of what fans have been able to learn about the show has come from set photos. Unfortunately, the reactions haven't always been positive

Based on Jason Todd's rich comic book history, it's anyone's guess as to who Todd will become in Titans. As both Jason Todd and Dick Grayson may not want to share the same mantle, there's a good chance Todd will take a different costumed identity. The most obvious choice is the title of Red Hood, unless Grayson eventually chooses to suit up as Nightwing.
Much like Captain America's sidekick Bucky Barnes, Jason Todd was killed in the comics and resurrected years later with a more brutal and more deadly persona. As the second Red Hood, Todd developed a reputation as an antihero and was often at odds with another former sidekick of Batman's, Dick Grayson. The two have clashed on numerous occasions.
Fans are expecting that Jason Todd's comic book backstory and history with Dick Grayson will play into his character's arc in Titans. If Titans' version of Todd becomes Red Hood, the character could serve as one of the team's first major villains - but presumably only for a short period of time. On the other hand, Titans could take a completely different direction with Todd by avoiding the "Batman: A Death in the Family" storyline altogether and keeping him on the path of a hero.
Titans is set to premiere on the DC Universe streaming service sometime in 2018.
