HBO Max is continuing to cancel more TV shows, as Titans and Doom Patrol have officially been cancelled. Since Warner Bros. Discovery completed the merger in 2022, it has been a rough period for the DC Universe. It started with the controversial cancellation of the Batgirl movie. Despite having wrapped filming, the studio scrapped the Leslie Grace-starring movie. DC TV has also been affected as the Green Lantern series got redeveloped while Strange Adventures was axed.

Sadly, more DC TV content is getting affected by the new restructuring at HBO Max. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that both Titans and Doom Patrol will officially end this year after their respective season 4. According to sources, the creative teams had seen "the writing on the wall amid all the changes with DC Entertainment." Because of that, it allowed them to craft their ongoing seasons with endings that won't leave the shows with cliffhangers. Titans and Doom Patrol showrunners Greg Walker and Jeremy Carver gave the following statements about the series coming to an end:

GREG WALKER: "I’m immensely proud of our gifted cast, crew, and writing staff and their efforts in bringing to life all forty nine episodes over the last five plus years. I couldn’t have asked for better partners in Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and HBO Max, and from the beginning, Geoff Johns and Akiva Goldsman. I’m incredibly grateful for their unyielding trust throughout this process. Lastly, I have to thank our incredible fans for their continued support, engagement, and the passionate community they’ve built around our show. We have six episodes left to unleash upon the world that we hope will give our beloved characters the creative closure we all know they deserve.”

JEREMY CARVER: "To our wonderfully supportive partners at HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and DC Studios, thank you for indulging us these past four seasons. Also, what were you smoking? To our brilliant cast, indomitable crew, fearless writing staff and, most of all, to our beautiful fans: thank you all the more. You made this a once-in-a-lifetime ride."

What DC TV Shows Are Still Left On HBO Max

An empowered Green Lantern in DC comics

Currently, Titans and Doom Patrol are on break as the second half of their respective season 4 is expected to drop later in 2023. Both shows have six episodes left to air, and HBO Max has yet to announce premiere dates for either of them. With Titans and Doom Patrol cancelled on HBO Max, that means another trim for the DC TV slate on the streaming service. Peacemaker season 2 is reportedly still going forward, while Harley Quinn season 4 is set to premiere sometime in 2023. The animated series has The Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine's Day Special coming in February on HBO Max. The Penguin spinoff series with Colin Farrell is also on its way as part of The Batman universe.

Despite Constantine and Madame X having been scrapped at HBO Max, J.J. Abrams' Justice League Dark series is still in some type of development. Michael B. Jordan is also developing a Val-Zod TV show for the HBO-branded service that he is attached to as a producer. Greg Berlanti's Green Lantern series, which had been put into development back in 2019, had a massive creative shift in 2022. After getting picked up for a 10-episode season, HBO Max decided to redevelop Green Lantern as they are looking for a new showrunner. Instead of following multiple Emerald Knights, the Green Lantern TV show will now focus on John Stewart as the leading character.

What Other DC TV Shows Are Ending In 2023

Barry in The Flash season 9 looking out in the forest

Over on The CW, the Arrowverse is getting ready for The Flash season 9, which will be the final season of the DC TV show. The CW handed out a renewal in March 2022 before announcing in the fall that The Flash would end after nearly a decade. Unlike previous seasons, The Flash season 9 will only have 13 episodes, bringing the series to a total of 184 episodes when it concludes later this year. Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights' fate are currently unknown as their seasons have yet to premiere on The CW, but they will air in March. Hopefully, whenever Titans and Doom Patrol resume their respective season 4, DC shows end on a high note.
