Titans season 4, episode 1 uses Conner Kent as Superboy to prove just how ridiculous Superman's Clark Kent disguise has always been. Superman has long used a pair of glasses for his Clark Kent persona, and this has become a running joke in pop culture for being such a weak disguise. Many people wear glasses, but still tend to be recognized with or without them. It seems strange that Superman could keep his secret identity for so long in this manner.

In Titans season 4, episode 1, Connor (Joshua Orpin) dons a pair of black glasses and Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) finds his appearance amusing, presumably because Dick Grayson has met Superman in his Clark Kent disguise and Connor is now the spitting image of one of his fathers. The familiarity that Dick has with Clark Kent's appearance highlights how silly the disguise is, especially in Titans where Superman is the most famous person on Earth. In an age of instant news, cameras everywhere, and public appearances for celebrities, most people know exactly what Superman's face looks like. Of course, seeing someone on the news is different from seeing them in real life, but this doesn't explain how Clark's close friends and colleagues don't recognize him. The folks at The Daily Planet regularly write about Superman and take his picture, but can't seem to realize that he's working right next to them every day.

Who Knows Superman's Identity In Titans?

This Titans season 4 scene raises the question of how many people know that Superman is Clark Kent at this point. Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver) certainly knows, since he and Clark Kent grew up next to each other in the Titans universe. Superboy also identified himself as Conner Kent, and Lex recognized the Kent name as belonging to Superman. Bruce Wayne knows (because he's Batman), Dick Grayson helped set up the meeting at STAR Labs, and a few others likely know as well. Those potentially in the loop include Lois Lane of The Daily Planet, other members of the Justice League, the high-ranking folks at STAR Labs (they seem to track him everywhere he goes, after all), and possibly other villains who were told by Lex. Of course, Superman's ridiculous disguise doesn't help matters, but for now, it seems his secret will remain safe in the public eye.

Titans Season 4 Is Teasing A Superman Cameo

It seems inevitable that Superman will make his Titans debut later in season 4. While the show primarily focuses on its younger group of heroes, the buildup to finally seeing icons like Batman has always been a part of the fun. Superman also made it clear that he wants to meet Conner and get to know him, and Kal-El is known for keeping his word. As with Batman in Titans season 1, Superman's grand entrance will likely be saved for the end of the season, after he returns from his long journey in space.

What form Superman will take in Titans remains to be seen. He could appear in costume, but only with limited visibility, like Batman in Titans season 1, episode 11 "Dick Grayson." It would also be fitting for Superman to show up in his (admittedly ridiculous) Clark Kent disguise, choosing to talk to Conner as a man, not a legend. However, the show could strike a balance between the two, having Clark Kent change into the Man of Steel as he flies off to save the day. Either way, it's almost certain that Superman will be in Titans season 4, and his cameo is a long time coming too.
