A new behind the scenes image from the scrapped Titans season 1 finale has united Batman with Jason Todd's Robin. Debuting in 2018, Titans served as the flagship offering of the DC Universe streaming service. The show proved a hit upon release and was rapidly renewed for a sophomore outing. Though not without some lingering issues, Titans season 2 was an improvement upon the first and expanded its popularity. As such, a third season has already been confirmed for 2020. Though a bulk of the action and drama has centered on Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) as he attempts to forge his own identity out from beneath Batman's shadow, Titans is very much an ensemble story.

Played by Curran Walters, the character of Jason Todd debuted by saving Dick Grayson from the armed forces of Trigon's cult. He then featured intermittently throughout the first season. Sent by their fellow mentor, Batman, the second incarnation of Robin carried a warning for Dick Grayson tied to an event from his past. Teaming up to put those demons to rest, Jason and Dick found themselves at odds regarding the former's more brutal approach to vigilantism. Regardless, the character proved a hit with fans and one of the show's breakout stars. Walters subsequently upgraded to a regular for Titans season 2 - even riffing on the character's comic book fate by polling fans whether he should live or die following a cliffhanger with the villainous Deathstroke.

Throughout it all, fans have yet to see either Robin in action alongside Batman. Thanks to a new image released on Twitter by Vullein, fans can now at least seen the Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder united behind the scenes. The photo comes from what was originally set to be the Titans season 1 finale. Unfortunately, that episode was controversially scrapped in favor of concluding with the penultimate episode and its attached cliffhanger. The original Titans season 1 finale was then reworked into the Titans season 2 premiere - which saw Jason recruited by Hawk and Dove to help out the titular team. It's unclear whether Batman would've originally played a role in Jason's dark visions as he did with Dick Grayson's or whether the photo was just for behind-the-scenes prosperity. In either case, it can be viewed in the space below:

In the official Titans season 1 finale, Batman played a prominent (albeit largely unseen) role in Dick Grayson's hallucinations. Driven over the edge, the Caped Crusader had embarked on a murderous rampage against famed Gotham City villains like Two-Face and The Joker. Tasked with stopping him, Dick ultimately killed his mentor and gave in to his own darkness. Fortunately, Dick soon broke free of Trigon's influence. With Game of Thrones star, Iain Glen, officially cast in the role, Dick reconnected with Bruce Wayne in Titans season 2 and the pair parted on more amicable terms. It's unknown whether either the actor or character will return in Titans season 3.

Equally, the status of Jason Todd has been kept firmly under wraps. In the wake of his PTSD caused by his encounter with Deathstroke and the pain caused by Rose Wilson's previous betrayal, Jason opted not to return for the final showdowns. Though he was spotted (from a distance) at the funeral of Donna Troy, Jason ultimately departed for parts unknown without a word. As such, it remains to be seen whether he'll be present to help the team against the looming threat of Starfire's villainous sister, Blackfire when Titans inevitably returns for its third season.
