A now-removed job listing on the official Respawn Entertainment website previously teased the Apex Legends developer's next project, a new IP that will "enable ‘adventuring forever.'” Since its establishment over 10 years ago, Respawn has continued to make a name for itself. The California-based studio originally headed by Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella first got its feet wet with Titanfall. Smash hits in the form of Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order followed a few years thereafter. Now fans patiently await what's next.

Respawn itself inadvertently teased its impending plans in a recent job listing. The posting in question was for a Generalist Software Engineer, who would join the studio's newly established incubation team - a team set to build Respawn's brand-new IP. Interestingly, in the process of managing next steps, the company also had its hands full with developing its first virtual reality experience in Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. Reportedly, there's also a team working a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

As spotted by Dexerto, the aforementioned job posting on Respawn's website for a Generalist Software Engineer vanished sometime this week. Visiting the link, whose URL remains unchanged, leads to a blank page with a non-functioning "Apply Now" tab situated at the bottom. Strangely, there's no error message that pops up and nothing that advises visitors to return to the site's homepage. Again, it's simply blank. An odd turn of events to say the least.

Of course, there may exist a logical explanation for the job listing's sudden erasure. In the days since the advertisement went live, perhaps Respawn found the right person for the role. Given the studio's impressive pedigree and stature within the Electronic Arts family, it would not have been too difficult to attract talent to work on a new project.

Respawn's versatility indicates the apparent original IP could be almost anything. While studio head Vince Zampella has a known background in military shooters, the company continues to explore other avenues. For example, though all first-person shooters, Titanfall and Apex Legends are nothing like the Call of Duty series Zampella helped shape. And Fallen Order is a complete departure from the lot. It's tough to say for sure what Respawn's next original idea could entail, but if it's half as exciting as the connected world of Titanfall and Apex Legends, fans are in for a treat.
