A recent update to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands nerfed some of the game's strongest guns, but it's going to be better off for it. The release of the Coiled Captors DLC as well as some rebalancing to classes and weapons are set to bring some big changes to the game. However, it seems that the recent weapon nerfs are the main thing on the minds of many players.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands has garnered a rather respectable reputation thus far. It retains a lot of the fun of the Borderlands games while adding its own twists through its fantasy theme and new character creation feature, among others. As a game, it's plenty of fun, even more so with the release of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Coiled Captors DLC. However, the issue of the recently nerfed guns should be addressed. In particular, how it's not as bad of a change as some may fear.

In the latest update to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, a few of the game's most powerful weapons have had their stats altered to be less powerful than they were before. At first glance, this does seem like a very questionable move. After all, late-game equipment should be expected to be very powerful, and players should feel rewarded for being able to obtain it. If it takes a long time for players to obtain a gun and it turns out to be pitiful, then they will just feel cheated. This is especially true when one considers that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands has crossplay and co-op, but no PvP, and therefore no imbalance between players who have these weapons and players who don't it seems rather confusing.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands' Nerfs Have Made More Weapons Viable

Wonderlands' endgame weapons are now more evenly balanced across the board.

However, some of the weapons in question turned out to have been far too powerful. One such example is the Liquid Cooling pistol, which could deal so much damage so quickly that it was tearing through the game's toughest challenges with little effort, including the higher levels of the Chaos Chamber. When a weapon is so much more powerful than everything else, a player will be likely to use it exclusively. A good example of this appears in Dead Rising, where despite an entire mall's worth of weapons being available, the triple-booked small chainsaw was so powerful and durable that many players never used anything else. With players able to upgrade their inventory size in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, it would be a shame to only use one weapon despite all of that space.

In fact, the reason that nerfing these weapons is good for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is because it will encourage players to use more of the game's arsenal rather than sticking with only a single powerful weapon. When the player experiments with more weapon options, they are getting more value out of the game than they would if they just spent hours using one weapon with no variation. Wonderlands is an over-the-top, exciting adventure, and the wide variety of weapons adds to the enjoyment. By not trying out all sorts of unique weapons, players can miss out on a lot of the game's value. This is doubly true for repeated playthroughs, which should serve the purpose of letting players do things they didn't try on their first run, such as finding Tiny Tina's Wonderlands' Goblin Pickaxe or other rare loot.

The weapons that were nerfed in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands needed to be rebalanced for the health of the game. These weapons are still very strong, but they no longer overshadow the game's other options. Now that the playing field is more level, hopefully, some of the lesser-appreciated weapons in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will get their time to shine.
