The world of Tim Burton is dark, whimsical, strange, and wonderful. The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter is magical, dangerous, beautiful, and imaginative. Both worlds have characters of human and creature creation who are loved by many.

Weird Girl has a cat called Whiskers in Frankenweenie (2012) who predicts the future and translates it through the contents of her litter box. Whiskers predicts a V for Victor and foreshadows the death of his dog Sparky.

Professor Trelawney also predicts things, not by feces, but rather through tea leaves and crystal balls. She is thought of as odd by her students, just as Weird Girl and her cat are seen as different. No one really believes either of them until the fortune comes to pass.

The Red Queen & Umbridge

General Thade & Voldemort

thade voldemort

General Thade is a brutal Chimpanzee leader in Planet Of The Apes (2001). He will do anything to destroy and eradicate humans and is unafraid to get his hands dirty. Thade's name is an anagram for the word death.

Lord Voldemort is the central antagonist of the Harry Potter series. Just as Thade hates humans, Voldemort hates muggles. Voldemort's name comes from French origins and means "flight of death."

Mr. & Mrs. Everglot & Mr. & Mrs. Dursley

Vernon and Petunia Dursley are both rather unpleasant people, this can also be said of Mr. and Mrs. Everglot from Corpse Bride (2005). They are two couples who want to appear untarnished in their reputation and respected by others.

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley see Harry as a secret for which they will be judged and their illusion of normalcy broken. Mr. and Mrs. Everglot see Victoria as their only opportunity for wealth and status. Both couples place themselves above others.

The Mad Hatter & Luna Lovegood

Both are beautifully misunderstood and thought of as weird and loony for their unique dispositions. They sometimes say things other people don't understand, though both are gentle and loving friends.

The Mad Hatter from Alice In Wonderland (2010) was confined and imprisoned by The Red Queen, and Luna Lovegood was abducted and used for blackmail. The Mad Hatter found friendship in Alice, and Luna found friendship in Harry. Luna witnessed her mother's death at a young age, and The Mad Hatter suffers from the loss of his clan, The Hightops.

The White Queen & Dumbledore

The White Queen is a knowledgeable ally. She imparts wisdom and sends Alice on her mission to defeat The Red Queen and the Jabberwocky.

Just like The White Queen, Dumbledore is wise and hard to read. He prepares Harry to fulfill the prophecy and save The Wizarding and Muggle Worlds from Voldemort. Dumbledore has a history with Voldemort and The White Queen has a history with The Red Queen.

Batman & Harry Potter

Batman's quotes, "it's just something I have to do," and "because nobody else can," are applicable to both himself and Harry Potter. Bruce Wayne from Tim Burton's Batman Returns (1992) and Batman Forever (1995) and Harry Potter are orphans. They have the weight of the world on their shoulders. They must defeat the darkness before it consumes the world while battling the darkness within them. They are damaged and haunted, but they both train and prepare themselves for what they must do.

Mrs. Lovett & Bellatrix Lestrange

lovett bellatrix

Mrs. Lovett from Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (2007), loves Sweeney Todd despite the fact he is a murderer and his actions lead to her death. Bellatrix Lestrange is devoted to Voldemort and dies in battle, fighting for his victory and the victory of The Dark Arts.

Mrs. Lovett knew of the darkness in Sweeney Todd, and Bellatrix knew of the horrors committed by Voldemort. The fact that they are performed by the same actress is a coincidence and a bonus.

Alma Peregrine & Minerva McGonagall

She had a difficult past and has the ability to turn into a Peregrin falcon.
