Bryce Hall and Jaden Hossler, the two TikTok stars who were recently arrested on drug-related charges, have now been released after posting a combined $11,500 in bail. The news of the arrests came through earlier today and immediately attracted plenty of attention due to the high-profile nature of the two on TikTok.
While Hall and Hossler are well-known for their TikTok profiles, the two are also highly active on other social media platforms, including Instagram. In fact, Hall recently returned to YouTube where he already has more than 1.5 million followers to add to the almost 4 million on Instagram and the 7 million on TikTok. Again, that’s just Hall, highlighting the social media reach the two have in 2020, and how their arrests immediately resulted in a surge of activity on Twitter and elsewhere.
Following the confirmed reports of their arrests, media outlets including US Weekly have now confirmed the two stars were released after posting bail. According to the report, Hall was released on a $5,000 bail following an arrest over possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. Similarly, Hossler was charged with the same possession of less than two ounces of marijuana offence, as well as an additional possession of a controlled substance charge, with Hossler released on a $6,500 bail.
What Happens To Hall & Hossler Next?
While now confirmed, there were already indications the two ‘Sway Boys’ had been released with each of them having sent out a quick Tweet reassuring fans they were back. Although, shortly after the Tweets were sent, they were deleted again and without an explanation, leading some on social media to wonder what had happened. In general, the response on social media has been largely supportive of the two, with various hashtags taking hold, including #freesway, #freebryce and #freejaden. Furthermore, new accounts that seem purposely designed to promote the freeing of the TikTok stars have also now started to surface.
That’s not to say the response has entirely been positive with many pointing out that in spite of the free-based movements developing, the two had committed a crime. One which now appears to be more serious than first thought due to the amounts of marijuana the charges relate to.
With no further details on the legal process having been provided, what happens next remains an unknown. What is clear is that there are likely to be two definitive sides developing over this issue and one of them is likely to be unhappy with the eventual outcome. Either fans of Hall and Hossler will be faced with the prospect of serious legal ramifications, or those who are already making comparisons to others who have committed similar (often lesser) crimes might feel that Hall and Hossler have been treated a certain way, due to their success and status on platforms, including TikTok.
