The new episode of Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is an after show releasing on Netflix next week and hosted by Joel McHale. The docuseries is a smash hit for the streaming service, quickly racking up over 34 million views in 10 days and becoming one of Netflix's most popular original shows.

Tiger King is the strange-but-true story of Joe Exotic, the eccentric owner of a roadside zoo in Oklahoma who engages in a murder-for-hire plot to kill animal rights activist, Carole Baskin. That brief summary, however, only touches on one facet of the wild story, with Tiger King's seven episodes revealing so much more about Exotic, his zoo, and the wild characters who come and go from his life. One of those characters is Jeff Lowe, a con artist who comes to Exotic's aide when his zoo is hurting financially and winds up owning the zoo himself. Lowe recently revealed that a brand-new episode of Tiger King would be coming to Netflix shortly, and now the official details on this new episode have been revealed.

The new episode of Tiger King isn't so much a new installment of the docuseries, but an after show called The Tiger King and I. Hosted by Joel McHale, the show will catch up with several of the docuseries' subjects, including the aforementioned Lowe and his wife, Lauren, Joe Reinke, Joshua Dial, John Finlay, Saff, Erik Cowie, and Rick Kirkman. The Tiger King and I will premiere April 12 on Netflix. You can check out a short promo for the program as well as the official synopsis provided by Netflix, below.

Following the release of the documentary series everyone is talking about, TIGER KING: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, Netflix brings you THE TIGER KING AND I, a special aftershow hosted by Tiger King superfan JOEL MCHALE. Joel interviews many of the main subjects from the series about their reactions to the show, as they bring fans deeper into the bizarre and amazing world of Tiger King. The colorful cast of characters will have a chance to tell their story directly, giving us inside info, opinions, and insight into the controversial, captivating series that has become a global sensation.

Executive producers of The Tiger King and I are Joel Gallen and Rick Austin of Tenth Planet Productions, who most recently produced the IHeart Living Room Concert for America on Fox where Elton John hosted the show from his kitchen, Joel McHale (Community, The Soup, The Joel McHale Show and will be voicing Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat), Boyd Vico (Carole’s Second Act, The Joel McHale Show), and Brad Stevens (Happy Together, The Joel McHale Show).

Tiger King has since become a phenomenon, with talents like Kate McKinnon and Rob Lowe already interested in adapting some part of its crazy story. As for more real-life exploration of Tiger King's story, there's a rival, sequel documentary in the works that will delve more deeply into the lives of those who appear in Netflix's original doc.

Still, the only official continuation of Netflix's Tiger King will be The Tiger King and I after show. Though, interestingly, the after show isn't including interviews with the two biggest subjects of the docuseries - Carole Baskin and the Tiger King himself, Joe Exotic. Baskin has already made it known she's unhappy with her portrayal in Tiger King and has no plans to appear in any new episodes. As for Exotic, he's still serving the 22-year sentence he receives by the end of the series, so an in-person appearance isn't possible. However, Netflix did recently release a new interview with Exotic from jail, so it may be that some of this footage could appear in the after show.
