One of the visual artists behind Thor: Ragnarok shared one of his unused designs online, and it's pretty impressive. Released back in 2017, Ragnarok instantly became a fan favorite within the MCU thanks to its humor and fresh take on the character of Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Prior to Ragnarok, the Thor movies were considered among the weakest of all the MCU films, but Taika Waititi's vision helped change that. Last summer, it was announced that Waititi would return to direct the fourth Thor adventure, titled Thor: Love and Thunder, making Thor the only MCU hero so far to get a fourth solo film.

One of the most interesting parts of Ragnarok is the trash planet Sakaar. Ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), Sakaar is best known for its wild gladiator battles, which is how Thor crosses paths with his Avengers teammate Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) in his Hulk form. Sakaar's citizens are colorful and fascinating to look at, making for some interesting background extras. Waititi certainly brought more life into the previously dark-toned Thor universe, and based on this unused design, it's clear he had a plethora of talent helping him.

Concept artist Constantine Sekeris, who also worked on Black Panther, shared one of his designs for a background Sakaarian robot. This robot has a particularly interesting look, with an alien-like head fused to a mechanical body that's in the shape of a T. It certainly is a unique design and can be viewed in the space below:

If Sekeris' design had been used in the film, it definitely would've made fans pause and take a closer look. The background shots of Sakaar offer glimpses of some really incredible designs, whether they be in the gladiatorial arena or on the streets in the midst of a festival in honor of the Hulk. The colorfulness of the film is reminiscent of the Guardians of the Galaxy films and has fans hoping Love and Thunder will be just as vibrant.

Whereas the first two Thor films mainly stuck to Asgard when it came to their outer space sequences, Ragnarok really provided the first instance of Marvel branching out with the settings for Thor's adventures. While Thor: The Dark World took a trip to Svartalfheim, it was really a gray wasteland. Sakaar proved to be a really interesting setting that could pop up again in the future. It's unclear if Goldblum will make an appearance in Love and Thunder, but he will voice the Grandmaster for the animated Disney+ series What If...?, so at the very least, fans might get to see Sakaar again in animated form.
