Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and star Chris Hemsworth show their appreciation for Anthony Hopkins aka Odin in a smoochy behind-the-scenes image newly posted to Instagram. But are Hemsworth and Waititi kissing Odin goodbye forever?

In Thor: Ragnarok, Odin has been exiled to New York City where he appears to have fallen on hard times (at least going by the photos that showed up last year from the set of the film in Brisbane, which stood in for New York). Feuding brothers Thor and Loki (who was last seen posing as Odin) put aside their differences to search for their father on Earth, and to do so they must disguise themselves in unassuming human attire. Somewhere along the line, Doctor Strange gets involved in the action as well, and Tom Hiddleston revealed in an interview that Loki is not exactly impressed with the sorcerer played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

In a new image posted to Instagram by Taika Waititi, Odin actor Anthony Hopkins gets a big show of affection from his director and co-star Chris Hemsworth. With Odin possibly meeting his end in Thor: Ragnarok (at least there has been speculation in that direction) perhaps this image is more poignant than it seems to be on the surface.

By Odin's Beard, it's Mr NZ and Mr Aus sharing an Anzac kiss through a sweaty Anthony Hopkins filter. You guys think I just fuck around all day hanging out with celebrities, but really I'm creating cultural ties and spiritual understanding between the different peoples of the world... through dumb photos. @chrishemsworth #Ragnarok #OdinSweat #HoppoSandwich #Anzacs #AtlantaHEAT #HannibalFilter A post shared by Taika Waititi (@taikawaititi) on

The image seems to have been snapped during recent reshoots for Thor: Ragnarok which took place in Atlanta (hence the hashtag #AtlantaHEAT). Reportedly, the reshoots lasted two weeks and involved 500 setups, a pretty high number. We do know that a post-credits sequence and at least one fight scene were done during the reshoot period, and Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson also teased that some cameos may have been shot as well. We also know that Hopkins was there looking all grizzled and bearded as in the images from last year of him as exiled Odin.

With Thor: Ragnarok being heavily featured at Comic-Con there have been plenty of revelations/teases about the film in recent days. Among other things, we learned more about the relationship between Valkyrie and Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster, and why there's bad blood between Valkyrie and Topaz (Rachel House). We also found out from Waititi why Thor uses a gun in Thor: Ragnarok, discovered that the movie sets up Thor's first meeting with the Guardians of the Galaxy, learned why Karl Urban's Skurge sides with Cate Blanchett's Hela and found out that Thor: Ragnarok is set to be the shortest MCU movie yet.

Most importantly, we learned that Hulk speaks in Thor: Ragnarok and has been suppressing Bruce Banner for two years. The second trailer for Thor: Ragnarok dropped at SDCC; thanks to that and all the other revelations the movie was one of the most tweeted-about topics during the event.
