The post-credits scenes for Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok were included in the film's reshoot schedule. Principal photography on the third Thor film wrapped last October, but with the movie set to hit theaters later this November, it was inevitable that some reshoots on the film were going to be done this summer. As such, it didn't come as much of a surprise when it was revealed that Marvel had begun multiple weeks of reshoots for Thor: Ragnarok in Atlanta, earlier this month. It has become common practice, after all, for every Marvel film to include several weeks' worth of reshoots sometime in the period between principal photography wrapping and its theatrical release date.

It seems that the reshoots for Thor: Ragnarok were even more streamlined and busy than usual, with the film's crew apparently conducting around 500 setups throughout that two week period - an insane number of setups for any film to conduct in that short amount of time. With that in mind, it's been hard to know up until this point, what major or minor story alterations might have been made during the reshoots, aside from just the addition of different jokes and/or pickup shots.

When she spoke with Collider at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, however, Valkyrie actor Tessa Thompson revealed that not only was a potential fight scene added into the film but that the post-credits scenes for Thor: Ragnarok were finally shot during that two-week reshoots period too:

“Dude, we killed it. I mean hopefully. We did so many setups, and also what was so exciting is you could see like at the end of the day it would get cut in… There’s two characters in the film that potentially have a fight scene, and some of the reshoots were just adding. So it wasn’t like reshooting stuff, a lot of it was just additional photography or like shooting tags which may or may not have included cameos from elsewhere.”

Now, the news that the post-credits scenes for Thor: Ragnarok were shot during the reshoot period, instead of the principal photography phase, doesn't come as much of surprise for anyone who's familiar with Marvel's typical shooting schedules. And more often than not, the tags for most Marvel films are shot either near the very end of principal photography or sometime before the film's theatrical release, usually during the film's reshoots, but sometimes even later than that.

What is interesting, however, is thinking about who or what might be involved in those post-credits scenes. Not only is Thor: Ragnarok the second-to-last film before Avengers: Infinity War, but the reshoots for Ragnarok took place in Atlanta at the same time that Infinity War was wrapping production. It's already been confirmed that Ragnarok will directly set-up parts of Infinity War, which means that the after-credits scenes for the film could not only feature some of the Ragnarok stars, but also some Infinity War cast members. Whether or not that's what happened will have to remain a mystery for the time being, of course, but it only adds yet another interesting possibility to what has already emerged as one of Marvel's most exciting films to date.
